I reaaaaally like that dragon with the dark blue and gold color scheme, and the wintery base goes super well with it! Nice job! Finished my Slaughterpriest today, can you tell almost all of the highlights are drybrushed, I can... Also first time doing "real" basing and not just sand/clump foliage with no paint! But I'm building them now and definitely the best finecast I've had so far. Still though, so expensive. Might do some Ogor plastics too not sure yet. Lavieth Posted December 21, 2018 Share Posted December 21, 2018 I do not think I will reach the goal of 30 swordmasters, but the month isnt done yet. All that is left on this batch are the faces (which I have base coated and shaded), the gems and bases. The lone miniature has his face (minus pupils) finished. I am hoping everything on them but the bases is completed by tomorrow. I have been experimenting with the agrellan badland technical paint. Pretty interesting stuff. Not sure I have come up with a look/colour I like just yet. I did make the rookie mistake of fully gluing them to the bases. So they won't look as good as they could. I am awaiting the flying stand base in the mail to finish the phoenix. I have lost the one it came with. As this has been the first time attempting this challenge, I want to congratulate all of you fine painters for achieving your monthly goals. Currently I use a unit of drakespawn and a sorceress painted in traditional dark elf colours to round out the army. I’m hoping soon to convert/paint another sorceress specifically for the army, and maybe a medusa if I can get hold of one. Maybe for a future pledge. Finished my 2 Tyrants and my Firebelly. Such awesome models. My tremor has gotten pretty bad so I kinda just paint with washes now and I think it looks pretty good, in that I can live with how they look. They will probably receive some touching up but for now the only other thing to do is to put some lahmian medium over the tattoos, which were done in micron pen. Got a box of Ogors to do, but just waiting on the Ironguts and Leadbelchers I got for cheap off eBay. Seems like Xmas is making them late. I do have some days when my hands are steadier but I'm really used to using the washes now. My colour palette can be kind of limited since I'm only using the GW washes and those are all I have, but I love how they come out looking much less flat than just doing that first base paint layer or whatever. On some surfaces they even come out looking almost highlighted since the wash settles in the deeper areas and less on the raised ones. Ive rethought the arrer boyz... they are truly useless in games! So as most of them carry choppers as well I think i’ll convert the bow arms into shield arms and bump up my other units.
