-Legion of Spook- A Nighthaunt army journey

Hi. Thought I'd start a thread to follow and keep myself inspired with my progress as I build up a Nighthaunt army.

As of now I have no specific direction or goal other than getting a bunch of different units completed.

Currently I have many projects going but focusing on some Hexwraith conversions using Dreadblade Harrows steeds, Grimghast Reaper bods, and spirit heads from the Lord Executioner.

I'm really liking how these have turned out so far. Also I'll be using the Dreadblade heads for my Grimghasts when I do finally get around to them as I'm not a fan of the blindfolds.

Ill also be turning their scythes into glaives (like the Stalkers use).

I may sell some of these custom  HW as I'll need 29 heads total.

More to come soon.

Recipe

Prime black with a zenithal highlight of Administratum Grey
Drybrush over shrouds with Ivory from Vallejo
Start a back and forth stiple blend with Ivory and Administratum Grey
Stiple hightlight key spots with white.
Use a 50/50 mix of black and glaze medium (vallejo) or lamian medium (citadel) and fill in key creases, folds, wrinkles, etc.

Weapons/armor
Base coat weapons and armor black.
For weapons i use Vallejo Metal Color. Imo this product line is the best model metallics out!! A little pricey but sooo worth it.
Start with a coat of gunmetal
Wash with nuln oil
Drybrush with gun metal
Highlight with silver

Armor is the same except I do a zenithal highlight of gunmetal.

Ghost skin
It is pretty simple. Just base coated white then a few glazes of Vallejo flurecant blue mixed 50/50 with glaze medium (or lahmian medium)

I may mess with adding in some browns at some point but, for now, I like the cold, heavy, and aged, but not rusted look reminiscent of the Nazgul from LotR.

The smoky wisps at the bottom are just gray washed with nigjthaunt gloom and highlighted with grey.

Still fine tuning my recipe but its pretty simple.

One more update for the weekend. I was able to get a little paint time in.

Fogged in some vallejo white on the ghost flames, top of skull, and front legs.

Fogged in some Vallejo beastly brown to bring back some stronger color.

Two more coats of Vallejo blue fluro towards the ends of flames and exposed skeleton to get the spooky bits to start popping.

Just a small WIP update to prove I've actually accomplished something. 😄

Been working 60+hrs a week so only get an hr or so here and there as of late but have some time off coming soon.

I changed the flesh tone as I wasn't happy with it and I accidentally deleted my step by step shots...

Fear not for any interested in these as ive got 15 more to do. 😄😃

Still WIPs so dont be too harsh.
