Huge scale/point AoS battles - who has done them?

Was wondering if anyone has done (and ideally has thoughts, details and photos!) some huge scale battles. 6K points a side - 10K - 20K! Truely awesome and epic battles and just good fun of throwing lots of models; half or all the local club and spending a day/weekend playing on a huge board just for the fun of it!

Did a large battle once under AOS 1.0.   Multiple people forming GA armies.  It looked epic....it was kinda boring....We had two tables but still just turned into a giant mash of models with lots of dice rolling.

I think one problem with warhammer at huge scale is that unless you have a huge table (ie impossible to reach in the middle, so you'll have to use the floor and be very careful) everything gets really really squished.

40k apocalypse also has this issue. Looks cool as heck, but theres not much movement room beyond go forward. Well at least in 40k most units can rely on shooting. In AoS, its going to be a massive base to base slog.

I am curious if AoS Warmaster is in the works, given how much GW is loving specialist games.

We tried 10k vs 10k, Ironjawz with allies against Chaos. It was epic in terms of looks, but, as someone has already pointed, rather boring. Pro tip - we divided the battlefield and everyone got their own part to command and roll for. It was a lot faster and kinda immersive, as you didn't know how the other side of the army is doing.

We played a 4k V 4k battle using the rules in the GHB2018. It was a basic Order (all 4k of my Stormcast plus a few Wizard allies) versus Chaos (1k Khorne, 1.5k Slaanesh, 1.5k Slaves to Darkness). We played the basic scenario where your victory points are calculated based on units slain.

Firstly, the slightly sped-up rules helped a TON. Having everything get to attack before pulling models was great, and the spell limitation really sped up the turn. However, if you were playing a very magic heavy army, one spell per wizard might significantly change your playstyle. None of us were though so it didn't really bother us.

It was probably one of the most thematically cool battles I've ever played. Chaos got the first turn and it felt like waves of madness crashing against my dudes in armor. However, bottom of turn two is was pretty apparent that Order was taking the win for this one. Without their allegiance abilities, both Khorne and Slaanesh suffer a lot. After the game we talked about homebrewing in the summoning abilities for both armies, just so that it didnt swing so lopsided.

However, it was so much fun that we decided to revisit it again and have a 10k v 10k Order V Chaos. For that I'm definitely taking pictures.

I had the same experience. Also with 4 player free for all’s. From then on we are only doing multiplayer battles with skirmish rules or max 3k a side with multiple generals.

In multi player battles I usually try to aim for 1K points now.
