Hi Guys,

I actually had this project for quite some time here in the TGA-Community (august 2017) as a blog (with 1041 Views at the moment) Actually don't know, if blogs don't get much attention.

So, perhaps I should do a thread here to.

Most of my models that were mostly Wanderers actually became Wanderers. And the biggest difference, that the Order was split into 3 suborders.

The Rangers, the Paladins, and the Maidens Guard + having there own subparts for the Devoted to Sigmar, the Tribesmen and some survivers the Mitrilfels Army in Chamon.

And the subparts of the Order started to grow.

Now we come to yesterday. I actually started painting the Chariots, that I can glue the Deers on the Base.

And started painting some of the Maiden Defenders

The biggest problem is, that most of the Models aren't even finished.

And today I got some interesting mentioning, that in Spear of Shadows was a Ghyran Warrior that has Armour and Weapons made of wood (haven't read the novel yet).

Actually the idea sounds interesting because in an early plan, the Paladins of the Order should be the units that have access to metal (do to the relation to Mithrilfels in Chamon).

I think it could be interesting to see, if the Scale Armor, the Sisters of the Watch have would look good in a blown wood optic (but I think I need another brown or darker variant to the one I already used for wood, like the Horns, Chariots, Spears and Saddles.

Thanks for all the replies so far. It's really a nice thing in this part of the hobby, that I can inspire others with my work, and get inspired by others. (still thinking about, making armorparts and weapons out of wood, instead of metal).

In the end, for the Greatswords/Swordmasters I was inspired by the work of @Red Geist where I saw the combination the first time.

As for the Reavers where I got the inspiration, from @Melcavuk and the Reavers he made for the Aeloran Nomad Aelves.

@ManyBothans

The Wildriders are also quite easy to make.

Most of the parts exept the arm holding the shield, the Speartip and the head are still the parts of the Sisters of the Thorn. The Speartip and the Arm are part of the original wildriders (I did cut off the arm, and glued it on the SotT body, in worst case it is slightly bigger). Another point to mention is, that the upper body, that is normally used for the Champion, doesn't work, because the arm interferes with the hair of the Sistsers of the Watch head.

After the Wildriders don't use there shields since AoS was released and I have enough Order Battleline (even without using the Fanmade Battletome), I could perhaps use them as Dragonblades (so I can use them together with the mounted hero).

@Rogue Explorator

It will be more interesting when the Priestess is painted. There were two parts where I had to use a little green stuff. I had cut off the upper body with the corset, and there was a small part where the scarf is, that I had to fill. There was also a part on the backside. In the end it's a little homage to the old Alarielle Model (not having legs like a male bodybuilder ?).

@Rungi

In the end I have to. The main problem is, that this project first emerged from my Celestial Vindicators project. And I have written more story for my Celestial Vindicators (partly it isn't translated yet).

The little content, I have, that is translated right now are these parts (that were postet in my blogs before):

From my Stormcast Project:

Judicator Prime, Yelena Stormheart

Quote

Before her reforging, Yelena was a sister of the verdant cycle order. The order had build multiple monasteries, sanctified to Allarielle, in Elony, a continent of the realm Ghyran. Yelena was assigned to the spectral monastery, which was build next to the spectral gate, a Realmgate in the realm Hysh where several aelfish brothers and sisters did came from. Next to their studies, Yelena had chosen the path as a ranger and mastered the art of archery for hunting in this context. When her monastery was attacked by skaven, she warned her brothers and sisters and fought against the hordes. Despite the situation seemed hopeless, she fought heroic, shooting dozens of skaven until she hadn’t no arrows left and was ready to die with her hunting dagger in her hand, when Sigmar called her to Azyr. Because of her arts with the bow, she was reforged as a Judicator and assigned to the Celestial Vindicators. Through her good results with the bow  in training, she earned the right using a Shockbolt bow and accomplished the rang of a Prime. By chance she found out that another sister of order, sister Verena was also saved by Sigmar and reforged as a Liberator. Until today both cultivate their friendship, which they had back than in the order. When there Thunderhead Brotherhood was sent to the Scabrous Sprawl, she recognized the parasite engine, that had the shape of the mole rat, which she had seen in the distance when her monastery was attacked and she aimed to commit vengeance for her dead brothers and sisters.

Decline of the spectral gate monastery

Quote

Yelena sat at a bright wooden table in the library of the Spectral Monastery. To the left and right of her were piles of books containing information of ghyran medicinal herbs and the manufacture of medicine. She had been here for several hours and could feel her concentration slowly bottoming out. She looked over to the reception desk where the old librarian Verris was talking to High Priestess Chrysalia. Yelena shivered as the old priestess glared over at her, turned to her book and read a few more lines in the old folio. Sometimes Yelena had the feeling that the strict old Aelflady had a grudge against her, as she lagged behind with her medical studies massively. Somehow much of what she had read the last few years didn’t want to go into her head and she had had only moderate grades in several tests. Yelena felt that she preferred to spend time outdoors, rather than here in the rather stuffy library. 'Maybe I just need some fresh air,' she thought. Shoved several of the folios back to the shelf she had taken them from.

"I'll go outside for a moment, Verris. Can I leave the folio I'm on the table with? "She asked as she walked to his desk.

"Leave it there. You've at least cleared the others back on the shelf," he said smiling, in a calm, friendly voice. "A little fresh air can really work wonders. You have been here for several hours. "

High Priestess Chrysalis raised an eyebrow at Yelena, "But do not neglect your studies again. You're lagging behind the others anyway, "she said sternly.

Yelena winced a little under the tone: "Yes, High Priestess. I'll continue my studies later. "

She left the library and went to her room. On the way she saw several familiar faces.

"Well, Yelena. Are you on a wayward path again? "Arryn asked. The young Aelf with the blond hair smiled at her.

"Arryn, I've been in the library for hours and just got the feeling that my head does not want to know anymore. Have again received a reminder from High Priestess Chrysalis, because my medical studies not as preceded as in the other novices.

Arryn smiled gently, "Sometimes I feel like you're a ranger through and through. Maybe I should give you some tutoring later. "

Yelena chuckled: "I have to see first, that I can clear my head, but maybe come back to you later."

Arryn nodded and moved on.

Yelena entered her room and quickly changed her novice uniform through her green ranger robe. Then she strapped her bow and quiver over her back and checked if her hunting knife was well stowed. Hurriedly she left her room and walked quickly through the entrance hall. Outside, members of the Order hold down their jobs.

As she took a few steps, she glanced back at the scene and saw the light reflected in the brass-colored domes of the monastery she had called her home for years. Several sisters were busy with the ivy trees that grew on the bright stone to prune something so that they took on a handsome shape.

Yelena turned on her foot walked fast step towards the forest. As she neared the edge of the forest she heard in the distance a women's voice calling, "Tree is falling".

Yelena could watch as one of the trees tipped away with a loud creak and the ground shook as the trunk hit the ground.

Yelena approached the fallen trunk. Then she saw the young woman with fiery red short hair wiping the sweat from her forehead.

"Hey Verena!", Yelena called and went to her longtime friend.

"Yelena!", Verena replied with a grin and put her ax aside. "Didn’t you endure it in the library anymore?" Although Verena was quite often outdoor, she was usually quite pale. Her face was covered with freckles.

"I had the feeling that I could not absorb any more knowledge and needed some fresh air." She examined the felled tree.

Before Yelena could ask something, Verena replied, "The tree had an illness. I've had several recently. "Verena scratched the back of her head.

"Could it have anything to do with the forces of chaos?" Yelena asked worriedly.

Verena shook her head. "I don’t know." Then she grinned at Yelena. "Tell me, do we want something else this evening?"

"We can do something. I'll call you later." Yelena hugged her friend and continued into the woods. She stopped at one of the thickest trees, looked up and saw a thick branch in the air.

With skillful movements she climbed up the trunk until she was in the right place and lay down on her with her back on the branch so that her head leaned against the trunk. She loved to sit in a tree and look for prey while blowing a light breeze around her nose. But now she closed her eyes and tried to clear her head. The chirping of songbirds helped her relax. She could not tell how long she had lain on the branch when she was startled by a strange smell. She got up and peeked. There was smoke in the distance. It wasn’t black, as it was used to from fires, but had a rather green glow. 'What is that?' She thought as several trees in the distance suddenly broke away and a large machine appeared. The machine had the rough shape of a mole-rat and began to spew out streams of rats to the magenta and beige-clad rats. 'I have to go back fast,' thought Yelena, jumping down several branches until she finally reached the bottom. She ran as fast as she could. The air to her right suddenly started to flicker. It was as if reality itself was collapsing and ripping open. Several rats, the size of a growing up, jumped out. They carried swords and shields. There were also two more Skaven carrying something like a big drill with a green shimmering stone spike. Yelena's legs burned as she reached the edge of the forest. Members of the Order looked at them confused. "Warriors have appeared in the forest! Ratmen! Give an alarm! "She shouted. The air flickered again and another crack opened. Several rats jumped out and tried to attack the Order members nearby. Yelena reached for her bow, drew an arrow from the quiver, and fired. One of the rat people screamed and collapsed. Others, however, slaughtered friars and sisters who had only their work tools in defense. The bell rang with deafening noise. Ranger armed with bows or spears, ran out of the entrance and headed for the Skaven. Yelena dove to the side as a Clanrat struck her with a sword, grabbed another arrow, and struck the ratman between the eyes. In the distance she could see Verena swinging her ax, cutting the shield and armor of a skaven. Yelena always tried to move, even though her muscles burned from the sprint back to the monastery. She shot arrow after arrow, striking another rat man with each one until she reached into the void and realized she had used up all the arrows. Frustrated, she swung her bow over her back again and reached for her hunting knife. Another Clanrat thrust her sword at Yelena, barely missing her and tearing the fabric at her stomach. Yelena rammed the knife into the skaven's side, which screamed and collapsed. A loud bang followed by a shake lifted them off their feet as a warp bolt hit one of the domes, blasting them and setting the ivy on fire. Yelena was dizzy and her ears were ringing. She just took the skaven blurry, who stabbed his knife into her stomach. Yelena screamed but managed to keep her own knife in her hand despite the pain and rammed it into the skull of the skaven she had attacked. The world became increasingly blurred and more blades hit her. In the distance she saw another ratman, who seemed to be much more armored. He leaned on a large halberd and his left hand seemed to have been replaced by a metal claw. Eyes glowing green, he watched the devastation. Then Yelena collapsed. Any heat seemed to stream out of their bodies, and the world seemed far away. The last thing she heard was her own heartbeat until suddenly everything stopped. No cries from members of the Order, no queuing of rats, no roaring of the monastery bells. Nothing. Only the feeling of warm light that made her last thoughts disappear.

(The following Characterdescription is not directly an Order one. Instead it is from a Character an Allied City, mentioned in the background, but exept of this I have done nothing for him until now)

Vanguard Raptor Prime, Ramir

Quote

Before he was reforged Ramir was a Gunmaster in the guildsity Mithrilrfels, in the realm of Chamon. One quarter of Mithrilfels was built into the mountain by the Duardin, which could be assured by a massive twenty metre high door and get access to there mine shafts, while the remaining of the city range over multiple square kilometers of land and was assured by massive walls. The city got her renown by trading armour, weapons and war engines made by the Ironweld Arsenal. Many citys in the continent Elony were there most important costumers, which through the Mithrilgate outside of the city. Ramir lived there since he was a apprentice and turned out as a gifted weapon builder and excellent marksman, whereas his favorite gun was a Long Rifle. To test his weapons he had gone hunting several times, where he was supported by his tamed falcon he called “Caroline”. Nobody had thought, that an enemy force would dare to attack the city. Then came the age of chaos. Through the city was besieged by Slaves of Darkness, daemons of Tzeentch and skaven artillery and they were cut of the Mithrilgate, came skaven of clan skryre with the help of their warp-grinders into the city and sabotaged the defences. After Ramir has shot three Stormfiends with his long Rifle and killed dozens of acolytes and weaponteams with his pistols for three days he was out of ammonition, cause multiple ammo dumps exploded by skaven sabotage. To survive longer Ramir was forced to used his Long Rifle as a club. The Duardin had abandoned the outskirts of the city and sealed off the montainpart, whereby the retreat to the mountain was cut off. During surviving two further days of besiegement and slaying two dozens ratsmen with Carolines help, he was confronted by another unit of Stormfiends. He was sure, that he would die that day, but decides to die fighting. In that moment he was called from the battlefield by Sigmar and Reforged as a Vanguard Raptor of the Celestial Vindicators. Through his excellent performance as marksman with the Long Rifle, Ramir got entrusted with a Longstrike Crossbow and was got an Aetherwing to his side which he called ‘Caroline’ after his old comrade, when he was promoted to primestatus. Besides his hatred against the skaven, Ramir had developed a grudge against the Duardin, for forsaking the rest of the city.

From my Fateful of Elony Project (here she was still planned as a Freeguild General, but called a Paladin in the Descriptiontext):

Free Guild General, Sister Christina

Quote

Sister Christina grew up in the town of ‘Rosenheim’ in the Realm Ghyran. Because of her devoutness, she decided to become a novice of the monastery of the verdant cycle in town. She heart the news that chaos had invaded many areas of the realm and multiple monasteries got destroyed during attacks. Rosenheim survived attacked multiple times by small chaos warbands, thanks to the support of Mithrilfels, which supported them with weapons and armour for a long time. It was this alliance, that allows the order to trench the rare paladin order. Since she wanted to fight for the powers of order she decided to go the way of the paladin and ascended to the highest ranks of paladins. When the inevitable day came, they were prepared for the chaos attack. Troops of Nurgle supported by clan pestilence began to besiege Rosenheim. Christina had intended to fight, but the highest priest gave her the task, to evacuate parts of the population with units of paladins and small groups of the “watchsisters” through the catacombs, since there allies of Mithilfels and other town didn’t respond to their distress signal. Christina was saddened, that she couldn’t be part of the defence, but fulfilled her task. On the escape they battled multiple small chaos patrouilles, they could parry with only a few loses. In the distance they saw Rosenheim burning down. For many residents the loss of their home was difficult and after they only had their faith, they indulged in zealotry and loot weapons of barbarian warbands to fight as flagellants. On their journey Christina could convince small groups of surviving brothers and sisters of burned down monasteries of the Order of verdant cycle to join them, so the group got some rangers.

Than the auspicious day came then they met Sigismund. He was a charismatic and devoutness man who gathered many refugees, who worship Sigmar or Alarielle, behind him with his convince that the gods would help them. Even if some of these groups were a little suspicious to Christina, mostly some of the barbaric tribes, they joined him. She wasn’t sure if the gods would really help after Sigmar closed all Realmgates to Azyr and Alarielles wood spirits weren’t seen in a long time.

It was the arrival of Yelena Stormheart and the Stormcast Eternals, which convinced her faith that the gods will help them. Furthermore she was intrigued that Yelena and Verena were sisters of the Order before they became Stormcast Eternals.

From my Frostaelf Project I have these, mentioning the Order

The first Story was planned as an entrypoint for a Skirmish Campaign I wrote for the Games Workshop Wiesbaden, but the Campaign never took place. In the end out of this Idea came my Frostaelf Project.

The Story about Frostbreath

Quote

The area north of Elony, now known as the Frostbreath, is said to have been a thriving kingdom in the Realm Ghyran in the age of myth. The country flourished magnificently until an Aelfen cult, led by a sorceress, which according to legend was known only as "Frost Queen", attacked. It is said that she wanted to seize a magical amulet possessed by the ruling prince. The defense would have withstood the cult attacks under regular conditions if the Frost Queen had not had control over a Jotunberg that covered the country in winter. The Frost Queen's attack failed as Sylvaneth's forces came to the rescue, killing the Frost Queen and her many of her cultists. The Jotunberg, however, was not persuaded to move on and transferred the kingdom, in his mourning for his mistress, in eternal winter. Many left the kingdom because of the harsh weather and constant blizzards made their lives more difficult. About the Age of Chaos, Frostbreath first fell into oblivion, as even the Chaos Gods showed little interest in the abandoned icy land. Since the Chaos powers were forced back after the closing of the Genesistor and in Ghyran slowly a life without the oppression by the Chaos gods is possible, come again and again old legends about the magic amulet in Frostbreath and that the snowstorms slowly weaker. This invites adventurers after all these centuries to find the magical amulet after all.

The Frostaelfs from Frostbreath

Quote

Queen Anvenna stood on the balcony of the mansion looking at the hustle and bustle in the city she had chosen as the outpost of the Frostaelfs empire. Soldiers from the Dreadspears and Bleakswords in ice-blue armor patrolled the streets of the city, and members of the Darkshards and Blood Stalkers, whose sheds shimmered icy blue, seized the walls. The city had once belonged to Aelfs of the Order of the Verdant Cycle and it was said to have been a thriving kingdom at that time. Meanwhile, the entire region was covered by a deep layer of ice, triggered by a nearby Jotunberg. Anvenna recalled that this Jotunberg was under the control of her grandmother Tsarra, who had invaded the kingdom before the Age of Chaos. The attack had failed and Tsarra fell. The Jotunberg, however, was not persuaded to move on and transferred the kingdom in his mourning for his mistress in eternal winter. Many left the kingdom because of the harsh weather and constant blizzards made their lives more difficult. During the age of chaos, the kingdom, which was now known only as a frost breeze was first forgotten, since even the Chaos gods showed little interest in the abandoned icy land. This made it easy for Anvenna and her cults of the Frozen Serpent to set up an outpost in the old abandoned city.

Anvenna was reluctant to admit it, but she felt a little bored. With a rambling look she saw a drunken soldier staggering out of one of the bars. His arm was around a lightly dressed young Aelf. Anvenna bit her lower lip as she saw the two staggering across the street. She had to think about Satras Dragonheart, her husband. As king he first stayed in the fortress in the Blizzard mountains in Ulgu. Months after they had arrived here, she had heard that her fortress in the Blizzard Mountains had been besieged by chaos-troops of Slaanesh led by Chaos-general Vincent von Drachenheim on his Chaos Dragon. Satras had sent the young Sorceress Llorva to her to clarify the situation, but had insisted that she should not return to the Blizzard Mountains. If the Blizzard mountains fall, Frostbreath would be the last bastion of their cult. She had not heard from her husband since then and she was a little worried that anything might have happened to him. A deep hiss seized her thoughts.

A blue-white ice dragon was hovering above the fortress, dipping and coming to a halt next to the balcony railing. On his back sat the young Sorceress Llorva. Like many Frosteleaf female members, she wore besides some long boots only the few necessities to cover her feminine curves.

"I bring news, Queen Anvenna," Llorva said, jumping to the balcony.

"What do you have for me?" Anvenna answered suspiciously.

"I have identified minor troop movements on the border with our empire."

"Who owns these troops. Are they the servants of Chaos, or does the Order of the Verdant Cycle want to return its city? "

"I can not tell you exactly who the warriors belong to. I have never seen such warriors. They wore heavy turquoise armor with white shoulder armor and gold ornaments. "

"Where are these warriors now?"

"They went through the Clawgate to Ghur."

"Hm ... interesting," Anvenna said thoughtfully. "Maybe we should send them a welcome committee to the gate in case they return."

"As you command my queen," Llorva replied, swinging back onto her dragon's back and flying into the city.

Anvenna smiled. She felt that her boredom was gone by this news.

There are still some stories missing, but everything missing is a Stormcast Eternals Story, taking place in Elony. Another thing is, that I'm still a little stuck in the Time of the Realmgate Wars. So there is really lot's of Work to do.

And I have to look how to manage the stories. I already have six blogs here for projects, but I would really need a blog or thread where I had made an Index for the story order.

So, about two months I did nothing for this project. ?

Actually I made some changes to my fanmade Battletome. Order of the Verdant Cycle 0.9.2

I still use the "simple" word layout, but have restructured the description, special rules and upgrades like they are in the new 2.0 battletomes. Interestingly I already used the "mount" part, but added the "companion" part in one case. And I know, the "any model" part in the description is partly stupid, but I think this way, GW get's less probems with there unitsize, if it is only mentioned in the pitched battle profile or Path to Glory list.

There is one thing, I have to thought about.

We see the new allegiance for Beasts of Chaos and how they handle for example "Battleline if" units. It's a little of a mixed bag.

Binding "Battleline if" units to the General in a larger Allegiance containing multiple factions makes listbuilding freer than the more specialized Allegiance + Allys, and you don't have to make 3 or 4 Allegiances for the specialized factions, but except for the chosen general there is no point to restrict yourself to a more specialized faction than the mixed faction.

Please don't be discouraged :)

You inspired me a great deal with your Idea of an Order and it's sub-organisations. Your light-green and yellow colour scheme on the customized Glade Guard is really beautiful. It influenced my own painting decisions and your kitbashes are always a pleasure to look at!

May I ask what kind of Cloak you used on your Custom Spellweaver? She combines old High-Elf and Wood Elf Aesthetics really well and personally I am a fan of that.

Cheers :D

Thanks, its nice to hear that I have inspired you. I think this project is the one I made the most kitbashing. I think the discouraging part is that I buy and build much stuff but doesn't finish most of it.

About the cloak. If I remember correcly, it was part of the old High Elves Archers. So it could be problematic to get one.

to make a small update here. I still have about 40 WIP minis I haven't done anything since July. Mostly because I'm painting some "Brotherhood of Korhil" minis in this project here:

One thing, I actually have done, is a little work for the Fanmade Battletome.

I actually made a downgrade to a Maiden Guard Battletome (version 0.9.3)

The main reason is, that the plan with the three parts of the order of the Verdant Cycle was partly quite redundant (it's still the organisation in the background).

In the end, all the warscrolls in the battletome were Maiden Guard Warscrolls. New is, that the "Paladins", that were part of the Order of Paladins are now part of the Maiden Guard, mainly because the models I made were 100% female.

And the Battletome has now some Allegiance Abilities (partly a trimmed Wanderers Allegiance).

What do you think? Where are still errors. I would like to hear your feedback.

Does anyone remember the tribal warriors in the beginning who worship Alarielle?

I made a little tinkering and the fraction increased a little bit (but not yet with 1000 points)

ACtC-3fJBHtiFHbWS9mtozRkOqyfaKLXpBwdqew_

Points wise it now looks like this.

Allegiance: Free Peoples

Leaders
Freeguild General (100)
- Shield & Sigmarite Weapon
Battlemage (120)

Battleline
3 x Demigryph Knights (140)
- Lance and Sword
10 x Freeguild Archers (100)
20 x Freeguild Guard (160)
- Spears and Shields
20 x Freeguild Guard (160)
- Spears and Shields

Total: 780

1 Chieftain (Freeguild General)

ACtC-3cwjLej1G7SkxxhxZNpiz_ageSz4w8PmdcA

10 Archers ( I have received the bows from Ungors, which I actually don't know had been how long in the sprue, but only assembled today )

ACtC-3fSkUjGB8McqH1RV9HPytp2bsMPcTIh_RQI

208/5000

3 Demigryph Knights (The Gryphchargers of the Vanguard Palladors I still had from the plague war box). The acolytes run in some cases so broad-legged that you can place them in the saddle. 😀

ACtC-3e-rs2_9sTnUaoTKuzB3OO7V2ZUQ_8XQW0z

Another plan would probably be 10 more Archers (for which I still need a box of Ungors) and a second unit Demigryph Knights (would still ne unit Vanguard-Palladors needed). Kairic Acolythes, heads and other parts that are needed, I should have enough. Unfortunately, it would currently be 1020 points, but let's see what the new Generals Handbook still brings in terms.

Hm,  I really would like to give my Tribesmen some mounted Archers (most likely Stags from Wildriders). But if I want them as Free People there is not really a fitting warscroll. The closest thing in case of Range Free People have are "Freeguild Outriders" but the Profile of the Repeater Handgun is too strong for Bows.

In Grand Alliance Order there were these too:

  • Mounted Yeomen (from Bretonia, but its a Legasy unit that is quite weak in case of Bravery.
  • Reavers (Swifthawk Agents, that would be perhaps be the closest profile)

Let's see if there are some changes in the Generals Handbook with the Free People Allegiance, after it isn't a good allegiance, so this with the reaver warscroll could be an option (let's hope GW doesn't remove them like they did with the Poison Wind Mortar, after it was a Spire of Dawn Box only release) .

Or I would have to write my own warscroll like I did with the Maidenguard or my Brotherhoods of Korhil. This option has the adventage that I could bring the units closer to the Tribes theme, but it would be unofficial like the other two, and if I want to put them on the battlefield I need the agreement of my opponent.
