I will going to Start an KO Army. Are they really so terrible???? I Love the models. And I play in an non competive group of Friends. Mostly against Free People and Fyreslayers.

No they are not. You’ll be fine. But be aware it’s a challenging army.

I want to compliment my small kharadron force with some characters but to my surprise they are all games workshop store-exclusive. Do you guys recon the characters will be freely available again when (if?) the battletome drops? Or should I just get them now (and pay a bit more)? 1st world problems I know... 😉

Hello. It is me, the ghost of Sttufe, with the same (if not more) sarcasticness and cynicalness @Kramer has noted me for (I couldn't bother to log in).

I have only one thing to say: Last time I was here (2-3 months ago) everybody be like OHMAHGAWDN NEWKOBATTLETOMEINCOMING!!!!!!!! And now we're back to this:

cool models, but aren't they bad?

No, just challenging

well, I hope we get a new battletome

i still play them anyways

(skip this)good for you bro, nice to know your better than me

I wish we had new models/new battletome

I like the models, but the battletome needs updating

and repeat

Only 4 more tomes this year and 1 for each GA. The odds of us getting anything is now incredibly unlikely. So here is to another year of suck my brothers. I’m getting some seriously bad vibes about our armies future and GW supporting or even acknowledging its problems.

They said there will be AT LEAST one more Battle Tome for each GA.

Hello fellow admirals!

Noob here and i have some basic questions regarding KO.

If i deploy my frigate with khemist and thunderers in the sky, does this count as 1 drop or 3 drops? (regarding deployement!)

Prospector command trait.. It says if unit is in range of terrain feature, what range how many inches?

That is all for now and thank you for your answers! :)

1) 1 drop.

2) You have to be within that terrain (in the forest, on the hill, in the ruins etc).

It's ok. Two of the horsemen of the impending battle tomes have been spotted.  Gw employees and playtesters are buying and building KO. And they have a shadespire team...

There is also the distant rumblings of all the ko art in the new expansion.

If I was a betting man I'd say we had a book before the year end

Just finished a 5 round 2 dayer out in milwaukee (Brew City Brawl) as the only KO player, went 2-3 but 2 of the losses were skin of the teeth.

Urbaz Brokk/2 Kemist (Ignax/+4movement cloak)/Invocator 40/10/10 Arknaughts (all skyhooks) 9 riggers (3drillcannons) 5 evocators.

Round 1 vs Anvilstrike Stormcast, I felt I played rather well for the first half the game, dispite losing balloons top of one to his shooting, I had the army tabled by turn 4, but mistakenly walked my 10 mans outside of 6 of 2 of my own objectives and long liberator/skink charges were able to sneak and burn 2 of them losing me the game (those were all that was left after my shooting phase.  Had I kept them back woulda been a win.

Round 2 vs a swarm of Nighthaut (Ugh immune to rend makes my hooks/saws sad), 2 units of 20 blade ghosts, 40 chainwraps, and 30 scythes ghosts made top of turn 1 charges killing 1/3-1/2 of my army.  Over the next few turns I took off over half his list, (evocator unit doing most the work) but I coulden't come back on objectives.

Round 3 vs a mix of stormcasts with Palidors and Fulimantors, was a quick game, a few vollys of skyhooks cleared everying in 28 and Brokk and his balloon possie cleaned his way through 3 units of Judicators to take the backfield objectives and win.

Round 4 vs -1 to hit in shooting DoK with Morathi a cauldron and 60 of her witch friends (on places of arcane power!) my opponent made some mistakes, and I got a great double turn getting riggers into morathi in elf form, was able to hold objectives with my heroes and table the daughters.

Round 5 ANOTHER -1 to hit in shooting DoK with Morathi, this was against the formation that allows crazy teleportation every turn, with 4 units of Kinari and 2 Warlocks.  I cleaned up almost everything in his list over 5 rounds except morathi, and had I made one more 4+ save on a dwarf in his final shooting phase I would have kept my 40 man horde 'alive' for points and won with points remaining.

Overall felt even chaffing with my 10 mans unbelievably punished by how many armies can just reach you top of turn 1.  No answers to Morathi besides frankly my opponent misplaying, and consistently hard to take objectives on the opposite side of the table, because if I lose Brokk or the Balloons, it takes our army twice as long to get anywhere.  The Stormcast allies were rockstars in every game, I don't think I would have done half as well without the evocators punches, the invocators auto dispel/suicide jars, and needing wizards for objectives in these missions.

I just want some photographic wetting agent ;)

But genuinely I do agree and feel for everybody.... but it's hard for me to feel bad as i'm having tons of fun with them. While a tough army they occasionally do very well with some very different builds. Which makes this faction still feel dynamic to me. So much to explore and try out in my mind. From escort wings in combination with Mhornar, Skywardens with pikes as a counter line behind some allied dispossessed, to the myriad of ally options.

I started them roughly together with my Daughters of Khaine. I don't play them anymore, rarely read the threads and i'm considering selling them. The playstyle challenges don't inspire me like KO, the thread mostly discusses the same choices, but the models are still so awesome i'm not dropping the hobby aspect :)

I do needed to get my head fixed a bit about using allies... I always love keeping it in faction, but most novels that feature KO set them as grim mercenaries, more so than Fyreslayers (at least they are honourable). So them supporting a small group of another faction in their struggle seems super legit. Playstyle wise the advantages are super clear of course.

All in all, i agree with looking forward to a new tome... I definitely don't NEED it to be inspired by, and have fun with my KO.

Can i play with one model less so with 14 and not with 15?

So ti would be possible that i put 14 instead of 15 models to Frigate + Chemist.

Yes, there was a guy a few pages back who did quite well at a tourny with a Frigate with 14 thunderers + 1 Kemist being his backfield drop/shoot unit.

Ok, thx.

Is it possible to see this rule in core book?

Well said.

(Although at least one other battle line choice in the ghb would be nice- there’s a few aerial force ideas I could play around with if I didn’t need an obligatory 30 arkanauts in every list)

I’ve been playing a few games with this list that I posted about using in a local tournament a while ago, and had some learnings I wanted to share.

List:

Spoiler

Barak-Urbaz. I’ve mostly been playing a 2 frigate Barak Zilfin list, and these were my first games using the 30 man Company unit below.

Additional Footnotes: There’s no trading with some people & Count battleshock as 1

·       2x Khemists (general with Stickler for the Code and the Gryph-Feather Charm, 2nd Khemist with the Dispel artefact)

·       30 Dwarf Warriors (almost always deployed in a long screen at the front of the army)

·       30 Arkanaut Company

·       2x10 Arkanaut Company (usually deployed as a secondary screen)

·       12 Endrinriggers w 3 Grapnels

·       9 Skywardens

  • This is not an alpha strike list! You must play conservatively with the Endrinriggers and Skywardens. They the only units with the mobility to go claim objectives away from your deployment zone, so you need them to stay alive. I think you almost always want to keep them behind a screen until turn 2 or 3. Also, be careful about putting them too far to either end of your warrior screen. Fast units with a good charge roll can sometimes wrap around and get to them.
  • The list (and many KO lists) struggles to deal with enemies that ignore rend. If you go against something like Nighthaunt or monsters with ethereal, you probably should play a little more aggressively with the big Arkanaut unit to get all those pistol shots in range.
  • Terrain & picking sides matter a lot. You want a deployment zone that doesn’t have big pieces of tall or impassible terrain, which can make deploying the big warrior screen difficult and maneuvering the big Arkanaut unit very unwieldy.
  • I’ve decided I like the dispel artifact better than the Earburster. I want my Akanauts shooting at heroes and monsters whenever possible, so I rarely get the most from the Earbuster.
  • LOVE IT! 1

Everything

I mean, a new design for all the army. Like new mechanics, new "battleline if", new/ diferent rols for our units (skywardens, thunderers, endrinriggers, navigators, etc...) and some tools to play more elite than horde.

I would be shocked if this was the case.  Our book will come out soon (because EVERYONE'S book is coming out soon) and our mass rewrites will occur then (if at all).  Until then, we will most likely just get a few points reductions to tide us over.

Hey Guys,

I'm attending a 1000 points tournament at my LGS next week and I'm planning to bring the following list:

Barak Mhornar

Aether Khemist

 -Aethershock Earbuster

-Ther's no trading with some people

30 Arkanaut Company

 -9 Light Skyhooks

10 Arkanaut Company

 -3 Light Skyhooks

9 Endrinriggers

-2 Grapnel Launchers

1000 points flat

What are your thoughts on that list? Would you consider something different and if so, what would you reccomend?

Thanks in advance for any advice 😊

The list looks strong. However, I'd add a frigate, just because a Kharadron army without a single ship makes me sad.
