doesn't help the Start Collecting is one of the weaker ones

Mostly because of the lack of use of the gunhauler. If that’s a good option it’ll sell as hot cakes. A redundant hero is to be expected. Thunderers sound  ver cool garrisoned  in ships. Skywardens and/or riggers will have a place.
it depends on the gunhauler if it’s valuable.

I like the design of the Gunhauler, and $ per point is better than the Gyrocopter, but 6,5 euros per model for the thunderers and almost 11 for the skywardens is a bit rich, plus the start collecting only has one hero, so even after discount it's a bit much.

Had the SC been Khemist + Arkanouts + Skywardens + gunhauler, or better yet Frigate + Arkanauts + navigator + khemist, it would make more sense as a set. It would then have battle line, plus hero that supports it, plus flying craft, plus something to buff that flying craft.

I think If they did a slight upgrade to its shooting characteristics (more shots or more accurate shots), and hopefully change the bomb racks to be more then a 50,50 chance. (without changing the prince) I think they would be a pretty solid unit. The Fly Higher trait depends on keeping your woulds less then 7 or it goes away. In that way the "Escort Vessel" trait becomes way more valuable.

Don't get me wrong, If they made they way better i would not complain. I just think with a few slight improvements they would be just fine.

What do you guys think?

What other dwarfs are tempting for the port that can take them? I've got iron drakes, longbeards and gyrocopters already, but I don't know if I can resist getting some Fyreslayers to paint up. Big thing stopping me was not wanting to do a whole army

ya, i'm probably going to get a starter box of fyreslayers depending on the rules for what they can take and what can embark / garrison. (whatever the rules end up being.)

When KOs were first released, the build I ran had a block of 20 Vulkites and the Runesmiter with the key that allowed them to backdoor my oponents,,worked pretty well.

I think you are right. Slight buff and keep the points. Together with the allegiance abilities hvae it be worth it.

If they go the other route, big improvement with fitting points cost.... I still wouldnt take them looking at the current faction focus. I'd rather get a second/third frigate for Fly High.

all true would have been better. Can always be better ;)
but from the perspective of someone who played KO before point reduction after point reduction... This could easily be 600+ pts. and if they are actually useful and even with the points now. Thunderers are super useful and a staple, same goes for the endrinriggers/skywardens. That's €65 euro's. So you only need to for the gunhauler or endrinmaster to be worth it. But it likely wont become a ironjawz deal :D

I think that you will drop your troops from the ship and they will die from enemy charge. I still can't understand why everyone thinks that garrison rule and teleportation will help KO being competitive. You can transport only 10-20 models per ship and it's 320-720 pts for one packed up ship. Plus you need heroes and battleline. Without chemist buff, 1 skyhook per 10 arcanauts and 4+ tohit with shooting it looks like a joke to me. We need damage or survivability not movement. I hope we will get that.

You could get survivability by allying in Ironbreakers. Are we certain the to hit is going to stay 4+?

Yeah, I guess. I could take Thundrik's, add few extra dwarves, add a few balloons and end up with 10 thunderers, khemist, edrinmaster, gunhauler 3 pikes and 3 edrinriggers.  None of which are battleline.

I guess I'll see what they can actually do before I make a decision. It could actually become a sc Greywater and sc Kharadron, and a unit of LOTR dwarves as a doubler.

That’s what tempest eye did for me 😁

but allied hearthguard with a runesmiter has been a great allied force for my KO for a year now.  It’s really useful to set up that wall of undying dwarfs on the table.

fyreslayrrs, in small groups, seem really fun to paint as well

If you want damage and survivability instead of movement that’s called fyreslayers. I’m not saying KO is any tier yet until we see some play but if you feel teleportation is not going to help be competitive you haven’t played a objective based game in a while. Having a boat with passengers just move anywhere in their movement phase is insanely good.

regarding still needing battleline. We have no idea if the frigates battleline in ziflin is the only one. Skywardens conditional battleline seems likely to me, same for thunderers. And where did you get the points?
Or the confirmation that the khemist rule won’t change but the amount of special weapons will?

Fact is. Just like anyone here you don’t know anything besides the community article. So why do desperate to convince people this is going to be a fail? let the glass half full people enjoy it and when we turn out to be a 3-2 army there is time enough to bemoan we need survivability 😁

I just want to be more sceptical about it.

Just seen preview, and I got only one thing to say. WE ARE GOING TO BE SO BUFFED! Just these two changes shown are massive.

So you are not rage quitting GW now?

Who would have thought 🤷🏼‍♂️

Anyway, I hope all the doomsayers are feeling ashamed now, as expected those previewed rules looked very strong, thematic and fun. Maybe put a bit more trust into the company whose products you bought for so long now.

Haha give it a week before the tome reading begins. It’s going to be all bad. Then wait again until someone wins a tournament. Well be flying high (see what I did there 🤭). Then it’ll be shouting for an update 😂

now I feel bad ☹️. Fair enough you are right. You should be allowed to be sceptical without me writing 6 novels to argue positivity.
It’s just, to me, exclamations like ‘it seems like a joke’ come across as a negative click bait title. Especially when it’s without any knowledge (not calling you unknowledgable, but we as a community don’t know anything yet.)

Gunhowlers question : they are in the artillery slot which is max out at 4 per 2000 pts. Can we have several of them in one unit, counting as one? Because if it is 4  ships max, I couldn't spam gunhowlers!, !?!?????

I'd like to have a SHIP ARMY followed by buble men.

So far in other armies behemoths that become battleline lose their behemoth status. So if that’s any indication it wouldn’t surprise me if that would also work for frigates in Ziflin and if gunhaulers are conditional battleline that seem likely to me as well.
but honest it’s all guesswork until the reading of the tomes on Saturday
