Spearhead - Gunhauler(with 5man garrison), Alchemist(general with +1 tohit artefact), 4 thundrick guys

Rearguard - Gunhauler(with mw on a charge)

Yea. I just thought that they are too good for the cost and fit very well inside the gunhaulers. Plus when combined with alchemists 3d6 /3+/4+/-2/1 (with towound rerolls) it could be very deadly.

The new Skitarii flyers will help with my Tempest's Eye/Kharadron blending. A few humans flying amongst the dwaven balloon boys.

The webp file are a unit I consider to use as base for human Thunderers. Which is odd, the Forgeworld models I base them on would be cheaper than the GW main line.

This is the trick. They can't. With Zilfin as your port you can move much faster then your enemy could react. 

First turn you can easily grab objective and kill 1 or 2 dudes to score 5 pts.

On turn 2-3 your main goal - block objective from your enemy with the ships and shoot. Or give him objective but win through killing more models while standing outside of charge range. So it will be 5-0 first turn, 7-3 second turn, 9-6 third turn and 11-9 fourth turn. You have 2 36 inch 3+/3+/-3/d3 guns and one 30 inch 3+/2+/-2/d6 gun. This is more than enough. The only problem are fast army like slaanesh. NH deal low dmg to be consider and goblins have too low bravery and could be removed very easy. 3d6 3+/4+/-2/1 and 3d6 4+/4+/-2/1 could remove any horde type of unit in one turn.

Just going to chime in here and point out that AoS is still an objective based games despite what a lot of people in this thread seem to think when designing their lists, and ensuring you have bodies on objectives should be near the top of your priorities when designing a list. Bodies help you screen to protect your ships, they help control the board and they win you games. If you're not Barak-Thryng for allied help, you need to be taking Arkanauts.

To suggest otherwise seems very reckless in terms of advice for newer players.

 

I think that the Ironclad is a huge trap choice for that very reason - I would much rather have two frigates to diversify my threats, or one frigate and 3 squads of arkanauts for around the same price of a single Ironclad.

Sticking a giant unit of Thunderers in an Ironclad sounds fun, but when half your army is tied up in a single model + garrison which can be deleted in a double turn by any optimised, competitive list... well I can see why at that point people are making the mistaken assumption that Kharadron Overlords are underpowered.

  • Hurricanum with wizard, general, hawk-eyed 280
  • Ironclad 510

  • 10 Thunderers 240 (the boat should be full)
  • Scourgerunner chariot 60

  • Gyrocopter 70

  • Battlemage (Chamon) 90
  • Burning Head 30

Ship is easily in range of the Hurricanum (so all the dwarves in it are), Chamon mage gives another +1 to hit a certain unit, then we have some chaff to stem the tide of enemies that might try to attack the ship. Burning Head gives another +1 to hit. 1110 points of Kharadron in this Cities army.

Arko are too fragile, slow and have low bravery. You need something killy to support them. And ships are not killy enough imo. And they will never hold a good charge.

What would you run them as? I don't know anything about cities of sigmar troops.

4+ save, rerollable on the turn they're charged through aether gold is too fragile? O_o. Rerolling bravery due to sitting on an objective.

I like that idea, I hate that the edrinriggers and skywardens are so alike. I converted the skywardens so the special weapons are held one handed to make them more different.

Also, play Zilfin. Auto run 6 makes you 10”. I had my corner-deployed screening units on / shooting at centre field objectives by turn 2. I really love ArCo, cracking models too.

Hope this helps, my 1K list suggestions  

1. Admiral (war wound, Rune of mark), khemist, Frigate (chutes), 10 Thunderers, 2x 10 arkanauts, 3 endrinrigger (with two guns). Custom skyport:Settle the grudges, Always take wha you are owed, and no trading with some poeple or without our ships we are naught. This list most closely resembles what I expect to be playing at 1,5K. Which is our standard. 

2. Navigator (Sceptic, flare pistol), Frigate, 2 Gunhaulers (breath of Morgrim), 10 thunderers, 3 endrinriggers (with two guns). In Urbaz for the battle line and extra aether-gold. 

3. Endrinmaster with dirigible suit (Bearer of the Ironstar, Aethersped Hammer), 2x 6 skywardens (all pikes), 2 gunhaulers, CP. In Barak-zon of course. Don't have the models but would love to play this 😁. 30pts down so good chance at a triumph as well.

For Option #1. Would you suggest getting one SC or maybe two?

ehmm, i'd love to say yes or no. But it kinda depends. sorry.

If it's just for Option 1... then no. Because the SC gives you a Gunhauler, 3 endrinriggers/skywardens and two endrinmaster that you won't use. But that's only specific for that list. 

In General: I think the SC is great value now. Get two and you have most of list 2. If you like list one and want to build it into a 1,5K list, suddenly it's great value. Because to list one I would add two gunhaulers and the Escort Wing Battalion and suddenly you're at a fun 1,5K list.  From that perspective only 3 endrinrigger/skywardens and the endrinmasters are unused. 

Especially, and I just now discovered this, the Gunhauler isn't available separately 🤔

But it can ONLY be used if it’s your turn’s combat phase. So if it’s the combat phase that’s part of your opponents turn you can’t use it at all.
