Aurics are there over 25 Hearthguard because, frankly, I want to bleed what little model diversity there is out of the Fyreslayers. If they're liable to be rubbish though, I don't mind shifting numbers about. I'd make your battlesmith your general, the trait is better for a foot hero because the infantry can keep up. Lets you bomb the Magdaddy out if needed. Other than that it is pretty solid.

My other suggestion would maybe to join Jabber and I in embracing the Shardfist Pelt, putting that on the Runefather makes him a pretty solid hordebreaker, especially if you add Prayer of Ash and either Coalheart or Ash-Horn to the Battlesmith's aura. Never thought about the Shardfist Pelt but ill definitely look at it now

Malakithe
The Shardfist Pelt is exactly the same as the Smoldering Helm it seems.
Malakithe
This is the first version. I know the MagSons should be ran in pairs but this one is to run escort for the MagDad for the reroll 1s for the save. Malakithe
The gears keep turning lol I actually like this one. Good amount of bodies to cover the field. With 165 wounds its super tanky. The MagDad with Ignax'x + Coal-heart will be tanky as well. The Auric Hearthguard can absorb hits for the foot heroes plus deal out some ranged shooting. Vulkites will probably have shields for better objective holding. Grudgebearer
Hey guys, I know the question popped up before, but what would your most competitive 1k list look like, if you were attenting a tournament, I have some difficulties deciding between more bodies or more heroes. At that point Level its quite Hard to fit anything into a list Edited August 9, 2019 by Grudgebearer
jazman84
Fyreslayers are peaking my interest at the moment. Just flicking through some lists here. Not seeing much love for the Grimwrath or Doomseeker. They not good options? They definitely look like units that would be fun on the battlefield. Also, I know someone who is selling like 50 Vulkites. However it doesn't look like they are the go.

I swear by Vulkites, for instance, my 1k list uses the Vorstag battalions found in White Dwarf and it is a ton of fun. Vorstarg Auric Runeson on Mag, general Runesmiter 3x10 Vulkites (2 picks, 1 double axes) Vorstarg Warrior Kinband Runic Fyrewall 990 pts, 79 wounds, etc. Also, I absolutely love the Grimwrath, i try to work 1 into my lists at 2k because he hits like 30-50 feral hogs.
Grudgebearer
So far my list looks as follows, I tried to squeeze in a Magdad on droth but decided to go with more bodies instead, what are your thoughts :)? Fyreslayers 1k.PDF

Meeting Engagements is a 1k format featured in the latest GHB. What mean is that in both meeting engagements and some battleplans the armies are deployed a minimum of 24" apart, which can be a struggle when it comes to scoring objectives on a 4" base move. Vostarg mitigates this slightly with the 1st turn move but in those scenarios even that is sometimes not enough to make you competitive for objectives. That said, once you get to the objectives it is going to be hard to move you off of them.

For the Lodge I would like to stick with Hermdar since the to Wound buff makes the list mich more tanky

I always like to have at least one Runesmiter for deep striking or one Magmadroth, but i'm also not super competitive.

TheNotebookGM
@jazman84 Any vulkites ww/in 12 of the runeson get an extra attack. Scythian
Huge siege game today! Order vs Death and Chaos! Plague Skaven tried to break through the right flank with insane buffs but ultimately bounced! Decided to move to the center instead and kill Daughters. Beastmen and second Fyreslayers butted heads on the left. Daughters tried to hold the center. The brutality of the combats were the stuff of legends. My Fyreslayer ward saves were incredible. The plague monks through hundreds of attacks at us and we held like Spartans. Battle was rather ambitious, but we had a great time! Chaos and Death for the win in the center. 3
Clan's Cynic
Painting question. I'm trying to achieve the Vostarg Lodge look, but the metal is throwing me off. According to all of the guides it's Retributor/Liberator Armour in the same way you paint Stormcast. The problem is in those guides the end result is inevitably a lot brighter and... well, gold than on most of the website/Battletome pictures, where it seems a more toned down than that, almost a bronze or copper colour. Any suggestions? Edited August 11, 2019 by Clan's Cynic
