AoS 2 - Legion Of Azgorh Discussion

You don't see them in many tournaments because few of us play them or even know they exist. Plus they are cost-prohibitive. That said, when they do appear, they are strong. They have a win percentage over 50% going back to when they got Allegiance Abilities, etc. They are competitive. I've had lots of success with my list in tournaments and Matched Play games: Tauruk, Daemonsmith, CSL (ally), Fireglaives, K'daai, 3x Magma Cannons.

Draz/Shartor/Centaurs/the rest of the artillery are all weak, imo. But as for updating them, forget it, not gonna happen. Forge World lost their AoS team and my gut tells me they will phase the Legion out in a few years time. They threw us a bone and made us viable for now but we will not be getting terrain or endless spells or new models, period. Eventually, we will be Legends'd.

Unfortunately I have to agree they won’t get any updates.   That’s why I’m probably going to keep using them  for tournaments whilst I’m able.

Then if Slaves to Darkness or whatever they become have cannons and still have Gorebeast Chariots I can use my Magmas and Skullcrackers as those.  Or we could have a counts as Duardin Cities Ironweld type of army?  Iron Daemon pretty much is a steam tank.

Still, they made a Chaos dwarf for Warcry.   A tiny thread of hope for Chaos Duardin in the future?

They said there were going to be big changes in Forge world. Maybe games workshop is responsible for getting new rules and so on. It would be unfortunate for the people who have this army. Worst of all, nobody knows anything about it. It seems like a bad way to treat the customers we buy forge world.

I've heard of these changes too. Let's just hope it will be good or neutral news and not bad news for us. Besides that we could only hope, that we get more support in the future. I wouldn't go as far as that we would get terrain and endless spells (even if that would be sweeeeeet) but a little bit of rules and points push would go a long way for us :)

Maybe there is someone out there with some connections to FW reading this and then whispering some suggestion in FW's ears ;)

On another note. Someone ever tried running a blackshard warhost with maxed out units? (2x30 ironsworn, 2x30 fireglaives) I think it would just look amazing on the table, but not sure if it's worth the money and time painting ;) (Fireglaives i'm fine, but I would need to paint up 60 ironsworn, which is no small deal :D )

And the community is greatly appreciative of somebody asking to help us out ;)

So are there any more suggestions from our ranks that could be passed along? :) realistic suggestions besides "just make us op af" :D

I would really appreciate if draz would be somewhat more useable. As he is an amazing centerpiece and also one of our iconic characters lorewise :)

Besides him as said the ironsworn could need a slight overhaul to make them worth taking and not just take their 10pts more expensive shooting brothers :)

I've had a strong urge to give that a whirl, and I think it could be decent in many games with that many bodies.   Azgorh is fairly durable, just slow.  However I'm wondering if the Screaming Soul Bridge (or whatever it's called) and the Skeleton Boatman spells might help with mobility?  All the little guys are on 25mm so should be able to fit properly in range of the spells.   Also would need an allied caster of Tzeentch probably to make those happen.   And also at that point Draz becomes pretty important with his super Command Ability bubble.

It would certainly be a different way to run Azgorh than I've been using!  I think I need 20 more Fireglaives…..and 60 Ironsworn :p

If someone responsible reads this, it would be nice to give some more information. They can't drop the bomb that big changes are coming for forge world and say nothing more in so long. I hope you continue to support all these forge world pieces, even from the age of sigmar team of games workshop.

I think we need to keep a little perspective. Azghor is a specialist army that is essentially a spin off. I always saw Forgeworld products being geared more towards the hobbyist than the gamer.  The warsCroll compendium was updated in 2018 so I don’t see why they would make the call to discontinue support. The recent FW announcement on the community seemed to me to be teasing some big news for Age of Sigmar. What that means I have no idea but I have a feeling it will be pretty exciting and I doubt they’ll put the chop on a niche cult army.

I would definitely dig some more artillery friendly artifacts and battalions. Also maybe put a bug in their ear about plastic chaos duardin, and I would love GW forever

Swinging it back around to hobby talk...

Does anyone put their Dwarfs on 32mm bases?

Still rollin with the 25mm bases. They seem to fit perfectly on them to me :)

New Azgorh player here. Do we have to take a death mask in our units? I would rather not spend the extra cash when I still need more units.

There are different opinions on that out there. Some say yes others say no. I send a question to the faq team last spring but they didnt answer it in their latest faq. Maybe we should send in the question once more?

As far as I'm aware you have to. I don't see anything that says you can't take a Deathmask.

Never say never.  We might see plastic chaos dwarfs, after all, we’ve seen concepts and one offs (or so we thought) become mainstream army reveals.

Also they’ve been mentioned in the cannon fluff a few times and in the warcry anthology the iron golems story revolves around a fortress run by a chaos duardin who's description screams daemonsmith.

and not forgetting the event only daemonsmith with the aos aesthetic.

if they do, i just pray the legion aesthetic will be kept.

Event only Daemonsmith you say?

in the off chance they ever became a legit army I would like it if they nixed the head horns and went a little more Mesopotamian. Not as cartoonish as the original models but something a bit more exotic.
