I know people want an option to play anti-Nagash ghost-bois I hope we can also get an option to also play Nagash in Nighthaunt as well.

It would feel weird. As the literal embodiment of Death you think from a narrative perspective it should happen, and maybe it will someday.

...I literally just sold my Nagash. Was a tough call to make but he never saw table time anymore, even before the world broke. I'd had him for a while and the paint job wasn't the best but I hope he goes to a happy home. If we can ever feasibly run Nagash again in NH or whatever replaces LoN then I'd look forward to the challenge of painting him up again. Great model.

Howdy all.

Inspired by @EnixLHQ, I've started my own blog on Nighthaunt. I'll touch on tactics and thoughts on strategy, but for now I'm focusing on changes I'd make to Nighthaunt. I've come up with some changes overall and to battleline units that I've been playtesting. I'm sure most won't agree with my changes, but seeing different perspectives is part of the fun!

Anyway, feel free to check it out:

Non-Nighthaunt player coming in peace.

Are the metal helmet/mask heads for the Crawlocke kit hollow? If so, what is their approximate size (i.e. height and width)?

Cheers

Hi. They are not hollow. Haven't measured them, but here you have a photo, with a 32mm base for comparison

Wow ! Check out this model from the preview today:

I've only known this Krulghast Cruciator for 10 minutes but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself

Fantastic model. Really impressive stuff. Our leader slots are already stuffed with choice, however, so not too sure how he's gonna slot in.

Edit: Might slot into 'other' choice...

Horseburner (really? Horse burner?) is right, this signals we're about to get a new battletome!

I'm all about that new V2 Nighthaunt smell.

Hopefully your right but it might as well just be another page or two in a future Broken Realms book, released  somewhere down the line.

You're probably right. But it's something new and not in a White Dwarf for once.

If it's just a new Spirit Torment sculpt, I've got those already. If it's a new Guardian of Souls sculpt, well I did miss out on Mr. Mortality Glass, but I've still got enough of them. This has to be something different.

And they better get some Gray Seer spray back in stock, too.

This hero is supposedly one of a handful of stand alone heroes for various factions going into the latter parts of the broken realms story, sort of like the herald models released for Malign Portents.  A nighthaunt book can't be too far out given how old the current book is, but this hero on its own shouldn't be taken as a sign that a new book is imminent.

I believe they'll wait for the next edition of AoS before releasing our book, and I'm hopeful about a character protection rule like in 40K that would help tremendously to prevent hero sniping. For reference the rule is something along the lines of:

Quote

Models cannot target a Character model with a Wounds characteristic of 9 or less with a ranged weapon while that unit is within 3" of  any other friendly Vehicle or Monster unit, or while it is within 3" of any other friendly units that have 3 or more models, unless that Character is both visible to the firing model and it is the closest enemy unit to the firing model. Ignore other Character model with a Wounds characteristic of 9 or less when determining if the target is the closest enemy unit to the firing model.

They added later in Errata that Monster or Vehicle Characters of 9W or less couldn't protect each other but that's it essentially. I think a tweaked rule like this would help a lot, adapted to AoS of course. Some specialised units or Characters could have a "Sharpshooter" rule that allows them to bypass that rule because there's still less shooting in AoS than 40k of course, and the rule could be easily abused with untargetable Wizards and such.

The new Nighthaunt model isn't a standout for me, and will be something I'll need to see the rules for before buying, but still it's an exciting development. I don't dislike the model, just not a must buy.

I know on the preview show they said some new heroes were being released as part of Broken Realms, but we already know that it doesn't look like Nighthaunt rules feature in Broken Realms: Teclis. We know that LRL are getting an updated battletome, and we know much later this year it looks like there will be a Soulblight: Gravelords battletome. We also know that Daughters of Khaine received a new battletome with just a relatively new hero and endless spells as new models.

Due to this, I'd be surprised if there isn't a new book for Nighthaunt (and Stormcast) to go along with the hero models. Games Workshop wants to make money, and they know new books is an easy way to make money. They also want releases in their schedule, and even with COVID I'd think there's more army books coming than LRL and Soulblight.

So, I'll be surprised if there isn't a new Nighthaunt battletome this spring/summer.

On this subject, I’d rather they change Look Out Sir to passing wounds off to a friendly unit, but I’d take the 40K rule over what we have now

Howdy all.

I've added a new blog post about strategy when facing off against Kharadron Overlords. If people are interested, I'll keep this series up for armies that I face regularly. Let me know what you think.

Here's the post:
