How does the Sisters of Thorn spell.

"SHIELD OF THORNS The Sisters cause crawling brambles to burst from the ground and form a living barrier around their allies. Shield of Thorns has a casting value of 6. If successfully cast, pick a unit within 18". You can re-roll failed save rolls for that unit until your next hero phase. In addition, each time you make a successful save roll of a 6 or more for that unit in the combat phase, the attacking unit suffers a mortal wound after all its attacks have been made"

Interact with Phoenix Guard ?

Witness to Destiny: Whenever a Phoenix Guard suffers a wound or mortal wound, roll a dice. If the result is 4 or more, the wound or mortal wound is ignored.

 

Is Witness to Destiny considered a save roll ? Do the Phoenix Guard get two cracks at Shield of Thorns ?

Witness to Destiny is 100% NOT a save roll. It’s a damage-avoidance roll, though people tend to use the term “save” even though it’s not quite accurate. It’s convenient terminology but not correct.

Let's say, a "save roll" is only the dice roll made on the save value in the profile of the warscroll.

In this case the english definition is clearer than the german translation where save roll is translated to "Schutzwurf" but the value in the profile  is still called "Save" .

Surely the German language has a delightful compound word for such a translation error
