Scratchbuilt Warscryer Citadel Project

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just finished up making a Warscyer Citadel out of recycled junk and bitz because my toddler insists she can't eat large plastic terrain kits! Here is a before and after, any questions please ask away. I have also written a blog post detailing the project if you are interested :-)

Absolutely love this. The detail on the stones is excellent. Going to check out the blogpost now, would love to steal some ideas and attempt more Terran building from scratch. This is really inspirational.

Thanks for the kind words folks, glad you enjoyed it :-) Really looking forward to getting it involved in some action soon. Already moved on to a tall chaosy edifice to oppose it, I fancy a "two towers" style custom battleplan.

I love the end result that I went out skip diving during my run the other night and found a large haul of foam.

I was just wondering how you cut the stuff? I bought a mask on your recommendation to protect my lungs.

Looking at some other projects around the web they use a hot wire cutter but the reviews on basically all of them on amazon say they dont get hot enough to cut expanded polystyrene foam, let alone the dense stuff they use for insulating homes!

Does simply hacking at it with a knife produce results like you have here or did you use some sort of more specialised tool?

Cheers!

Hi mate, congrats on the haul! My garage is overflowing with the stuff ?

No special tools used here, just a couple of different sizes of craft knife. I suspect using a hot cutter would immediately unleash a foul cloud of toxic fumes! You can achieve good results by just carving away. You'll find your own method, for me I use small slices and build up a shape and texture. You can use a rough rounded stone to work in textures also. Just make sure to leave plenty of edges and recesses for shading and dry brush highlights and the end result will come up tops ?
