How to play Stormfiends

I just finished painting my Stormfiends and had a game with them this last weekend. I buildt them as Windlauncher, Shockgauntlet and Grinderfist. Because Rule of Cool.

Now, I brought them in on my opponents table edge in the second turn, the Windlauncher missed, they failed their charge and got shot to bits and only managed to divert my opponents attention abit and take out a Battlemage. 

It felt like they under-performed slightly. Do any of you have any tips on how to use them better? Different deployment? Different load-out?

Still, first game is first game and I love the models so they are going on the table again soon!

You're best bet is to use them in specialist units, either all combat or all shooting. Firing 3 sets of Windlaunchers is much more likely to net you damage. They arent even that bad in close combat with all shooting weapons as they are still damage 2 with decent attack stats.

It really depends on if you just want to run them as a cool unit or if you want to maximise the potential they can have. Warpfire projectors are the go to ranged weapon when it comes to reliable heavy damage.

I'm likely to run 2 squads when I pick them up. Both with 1 model with warp grinders (in case I don't use the skyre formation) and the 1 unit with 2 rating guns and the other with 2 Warpfire throwers (most useful in the formation when you can pop up any where in range dole out a lot of mortal wounds and then charge in)
