What Lighting/Lamp to use for Painting

Recommended Posts

I carry one of the Normande magnafying daylight clip on lamps to the hobby shop.  It is the only way that I can see what I am painting.

I have one of these too, just for the light, not the magnifying glass bit, just to get focused light on an area.

I'm being tempted by these fancy lamps!

Do it! It makes a huge difference to your painting. Like night and day (pun intended)

That looks good! I have ended up with something very similar, it is arriving tomorrow, so will get some pictures of it in action.

Aww, man. I wanted that exact one but it wouldn't fit on my desk.

Apologies for the threadcromancy but I am also on the lookout for a lamp and thought I should search before I post.

I'm not so keen to spend £100+ on a lamp - looking more in the £30/40 territory. Does anyone have any recommendations for that area?

I found this on Amazon which looks suitable:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fluorescent-Daylight-Flexible-Magnifying-Position/dp/B000B8JNWM/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1473156225&sr=8-25&keywords=daylight+lamp

but I can't quite work out if it will be useful as a normal lamp without the magnifier.

I also found this, a cheaper model and would be grateful for people's thoughts on whether it would do the job:

thanks in advance!
