Gorks Pokin' Finger
I recently began building objective markers this summer and they have been a blast to create. You can practically make any kind you want for any scenario (narrative or matched play purposes), they are quick and simple to do.They usually involve a few bits, a 40mm round base, and your imagination to build what you want. For me, making objective markers has helped me stay busy at the hobby table when I become stressed at the table. Here are some examples I have made: My Ironjawz Banner. I like to imagine my Orruks planting the pointy end of the flag into the ground (or dead enemies) to mark their territory. They also enjoy placing the heads of defeated heroes on the clan banner to tell the enemy they can expect to have a fight on their hands My Dispossessed Clan Banner. Technically it is not done because I still want to hand draw a rune or clan symbol onto it, but I like how it came out. It shows the vibe of my army I feel My recent work, a choppa embedded into a rock. The story behind this is that it is weapon blessed by Gorkamorka, left embedded in the rock from it's previous wielder. Legend says you can hear it whisper in the winds for any Destruction f unit who can brave the dangers of the surrounding land to free it for slaughter. I made this cutting up wine cork, an axe arm bit from the Brutes box, as well as skeletons and the boss jaw plate. Snow was Valhallen Blizzard Show us what you have made or what you intend to make.I hope this can become a post for others to gain inspiration from when building your own. My next ones are going to be simple supplies using barrels, crates, and any extra sigal bits I have lying around
RuneBrush
Here's the couple I knocked out for my Bloodbound army. The orange edges help to determine that they're an objective and not some random part of the army
CJPT
Here are my Tzeentch markers. They're Dark Eldar Razorwings mounted on individual flying stems. I like the idea that Tzeentch's interest in a particular area might be indicated by the presence of strange, colourful birds.
Double Misfire
My kind of thread! First up we've got a spilled tankard from one of the Warhammer World exclusive Bugman models. Deffinately worth marching to war to get back! Next we have a severed Golden Daemon head from an old Games Day model modeling a pretty ornate looking magical sword with the previous owner's hand still firmly gripping it. I figure this guy can double up as some kind of oracle, answering whoever captures it's questions about the future, and as a suitably grimdark sword in the stone: Finally make a lot of noise for the pair of rocks I found in my garden and painted gold, then drybrushed a lighter gold to use in Gift from the Heavens. These are quite possibly the most complex time intensive models I've ever assembled or painted, so feel free to marvel: Group shot:
stato
I strongly agree on the need to recover that precious tankard! Those rocks really are magnificent though.
TheOtherJosh
Hey! Do not spurn the precious tankard! I have it on good account that it held the final pint of Bugman's XXXXXXXXXX from the Public House at the End of the Known World... and is capable of changing any liquid into the finest ale you've ever had pass through your lips! Ollie Grimwood
These are mine which represent my Warlord's stash, including Aelf prisoner/snack. I thinking of adding a forth which will be a selection of heads on spikes to represent worthy defeated foes who are allowed to continue watching the fightin. Ollie Grimwood
Really nice. I might be borrowing your idea for the weapons stash for my Ironjawz. How did you make the Aelf Prisoner bag marker?I green stuffed a bag shape without the ruffles at the top. When it dried I sculpted the ruffles by rolling out a tube of green stuff laying it in a circle around the top of the bag then used a tool to press in the ruffles. The rope is just a thin tube of green stuff with the texture added with a craft night. The head was just stuck on at the end. Mr. White
In the interest of trying to actually get 100% of my for realz models painted....I cut a corner here in the short term. I use prepainted Mage Knight Artifact set 2. You can see some in action here:
Gorks Pokin' Finger
That's not bad @Mr. White you use what you got for terrain and such imo. And honestly, it looks like it fits that aesthetic in your photo
Gorks Pokin' Finger
I was bored today so I made a quick marker using some bits I had lying around to create an Ironjawz pile of weapons. Really happy how this came out in terms of the weathering to the armour. I used an old worn out dry brush, rubbed leadbealcher into a paper towel, and lightly poked across the red as shown
