bsharitt
So I currently have a hair over 1000 points of Kharadron Overlords(Frigate, gun hauler, arkanauhts x2, thunderers, skywardens and Admiral). While I do like the Kharadron Overlords a lot, I've thought of maybe just keeping the Overlords at 1000 for now, but expand to a full 2000 with various Dwarfs. I already have a unit of the old Dwaf Thunderers and I have a Runelord in the mail(technically as the coach of my Bloodbowl team, but he could take the field of battle in the off season), and I wouldn't mind having one or two of the other old Dwarf units since I really like them, but not sure if I'd build a whole army of them. Another big driver of this idea is also the Fyreslayers Start Collecting box. Like the Disspossed, I like them enough to collect a few, but not a whole army. So lets say I take my existing Kharadron Overlords and Dispossessed and add the Fyreslayer SC box and a unit of Longbeards to put me right at 2000 points. How poorly synergised would my army be? Obviously there's the heroes various abilities that only affect their own factions, but is having those abilities limited, really make the points wasted, or do these guys work well enough in lists that aren't well synergised? someone2040
you need to be aware that you'll lose the benefits of specific allegiance, and be dumped with Grand Alliance Order which is unlikely to have many synergistic tricks you can run. Then I think you need to take a long hard look at each unit you want to include, what purpose they're going to serve, how are they going to be buffed (if at all). I think some of the good things about Duardin though, is that there are definitely some buffs in there that don't require you to run a particular allegiance or general. For example, Dispossessed can all be buffed by a Runelord. You can even use your Warden Kings command ability if you have Longbeards in your force. Fyreslayers can tunnel with the Runesmiter. Not very familiar with their battalions, but at least they have options to take those as well. Not really sure about how Kharadrons go without the Code. Overall, running a mixed faction list essentially you'll be trading away consistency and redundancy for a larger variety of units. So you need to weigh up what that's worth to you. Generally people have been running mixed faction lists either because they want it for a fluff/thematic reasons, or they want to include some powerhouse units which are overall strong (Like Hurricanums), so overall, your list is probably going to fall into the former rather than the latter. Malakithe
im not sure how well that would work. Especially now with GH2017 coming out. I was thinking of adding some cannons to a Fyreslayers list but not a full on mixing. Now if you wanted to, like in your example, add in a unit of 30 Vulkite and a Runesmiter to surprise people that would be fine cuz Vulkites are okay without any real assistance
