Asbestress
Another month has started, so it is time for another interview. This time is a fellow Citizen of Sigmar, @Asbestress!
1 - Where are you from?
South-Western Hungary.
2 - When did you start to have contact with the hobby?
My first minis where some Stormtroopers from SW Legion (learned to hate painting white pretty quick), and then the Know No Fear 40k starter. First minis for AoS were a box of Gloomspite Stabbas.
3 - What kind of hobbyist are you?
The kind that always has more grey plastic than painted. I'm trying to figure out a system to get that more even (mostly focusing on my maybe too bloated unfinished Cities collection), so we'll see where that ends up.
4 - Which GW games have you played/ collected?
Used to be really into 40k, although the constant Space Marine releases kinda turned me away from it. Apart from that, AoS and bits of Underworlds, Warcry and Heresy.
5 - Which GW games do you play/ collect actually?
I mainly collect AoS, although I am looking into maybe making a small (maybe 500 points) Solar Auxilia force for Heresy. Don't get around to playing too many games though. Would get sucked into Old World if they came out with Kislev or Cathay.
6 - How many armies do you have? (Include points count if you know it!)
- Around 1500 points of Cities (with around 2000-2500 more on the painting table)
- 800 points-ish of Gloomspite Gitz
- Misc. Chaos stuff, including a couple Nurgle characters and some metal Chorfs
- The beginnings of a Tau army (i.e.: 3 Stealth Battlesuits)
- Some Askurgan Trueblades that I'm thinking of converting into Cathay monks/vampires
- Around 1000 points of 40k Orks
- Some Ogors I shelved after the Gorgers and the Warhulk released in hopes of a refresh
7 - Which one is your favourite army?
I would be lying if I said anything other than Cities. I always liked "downtrodden mostly decent regular people" factions, and it doesn't hurt that the refresh's aesthetics are just lovely. Really excited to see what kinds of things we'll see for them in the future (Cogfort? Cogfort.)
Gitz and Chorfs also have a special place in my heart, being short and generally mean spirited. Hoping that all the rumours about a Chaos Dwarf release turn out to be true.
8 - Who is your favourite character?
Probably Callis and Toll. City of Secrets was a good read. Dark Harvest was as well, although the protagonist wasn't as likeable imho
9 - What is your favourite miniature?
Probably the Steam Tank. That light-steampunk aesthetic works really well for Warhammer humans, and I hope we see something similar to it for Cities in the future. And the design really holds up despite being more than a 1,5 decades old.
10 - What is your favourite AoS narrative?
Broken Realms, since it actually felt like big things were going down and I had more of a chance of following everything than what feels like 5 books of setup for Dawnbringers. The entirety of the Soul Wars was also pretty cool.
11 - Can you show us the miniature that you are more proud of?
Though choice. I wanted to go with my first Steam Tank, since it established the baseline I wanted to achieve with my then Greywater Cities force, but in the end I had to go with my most recent one, the Fusil-Major, mostly because I am still impressed by how quickly I managed to churn him out to a standard I didn't think I could even achieve a few years back.
I still have much to improve (especially compared to mcfishstick's incredible Steelhelms)
12 - How did you find out about TGA?
Probably bottle's "AoS Skirmish Warband" which I found after looking for Greywater stuff. Spent a few years lurking before making an account.
13 - What is your favourite TGA thread?
There is always something happening on the Rumour Thread, although the Mortals Redesign Discussion was a blast while it lasted.
Is there anything else do you want to add?
Love the respect and general niceness with which most discussions here are done.
Let's hope we may yet have more Whitefang posts and Rumour Thread shenanigans
That's it for today! Now we will go to pray Sigmar for the Cogfort
