    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Distracted

Hi all, It's been a bit since I've added more Bonereapers, and that's because of 40K. As you can see, Necrons have pulled me back in.   I'll be back to my bone guys soon, but at least I'm working on something!

Hammers, Hurricanums and Black Leather Boots

Hi all! Been about a month or so, so time for a quick update.  Hobby has been progressing quite nicely on all fronts. Finished off the hurricanum, invested in some contrast paints and vallejo basing paste (huge fan), and binge-watched tons of youtube painting videos. Also had a bit of a change of heart with the list and so I'm now going for an elf-centric Tempest Eye build. Hurricanum: Overall pretty pleased with this. Easily the most complex painting project I've taken on so

Tzaangors

The Tzaangors are ready to march!  I got these guys done over the last few weeks.  The newer set I made as many of the mutants and great weapons I was missing as I could and the paint job is a little lighter on the skin but it’s not all that noticeable.  I feel pretty good about how the two batches blend together.  I have got a few sets of enlightened and a shaman are on the way so I’m looking forward to assembling them and putting the paint to the plastic to finish churning this Tzeentch horde

FEC fully finished

A curious thing happened last weekend. For the first time (ever?) I finally finished painting every single model in a Warhammer army. Usually as hobbyists, we end up buying a little too much, so even if we're happy with the state of our 2000 point army, we inevitably have a few extra models (or maybe a lot extra) that end up sitting in a box somewhere and never finished. So this is a real sense of accomplishment to have finally painted every single model I own for my Flesh-Eater Courts army

Skaven vs OBR - Shifting Objectives

My List OBR List T1He outdrops me and goes first. Objective is middle. He makes a unit of Fiends -1 to hit with Katakros and puts up Nagash's Protection on Arkhan and starts advancing the majority of his stuff towards the center while keeping 1 unit of 20 toward each side. On my turn I fail Bridge and he unbinds MMMWP after I RR it to a 7. This really hurts me as it means I won't be able to claim middle on this turn as I won't be in range to clear off the Mortek.. even if I

A Better Brush

Some painting progress.  I finished the flat dark grey on the rest of the commission raven guard armor panels, & finished the edge highlighting on half of them.  Finished the etherial green on the command batch of 10 skeletons.  This was mostly already done, just needed a very diluted greenwash around the head & torso, & greyish-white drybrush.  I then undercoated the rest of the models black to prep for the remaining sections.  I also started the process of repainting the shields on

Chanters of Change

I finally got the acolytes finished after 3 years.  It was surprisingly quick I suppose all the painting between then and now has paid off.  I plan on getting the eyes of the nine for the two extra acolytes to finish it at a cool 30.  Plus I would love to convert that magister as the head on it is awful.   I glued more bits to my objective marker aka flux cairn as well.  The crystal is something my older brother gave me many years ago before we both moved to separate parts of the country so it

Black Sacrament

The votes are in, and while for a moment it looked like I might be facing a 3 way tie, in the end Legion of Sacrament pulled in ahead of the other two options.  So I bundled my chariots and morteks back into their storage bins (don't worry, they aren't gone forever), and set the victorious Sacramental Legion project out on the painting table, together with a stubborn batch of comission 30k Raven Guard that I need to finish alongside this lot. Of that, Arkhan, the necromancer, and the B

Tzeentch vs Skaven - Total Commitment

My List Skaven List T1I outdrop him and let him go first. Not much happens other than him getting right outside of my spell-range and getting off Vermintide for a free FP. He kept his Acolytes back a bit, which will come to hurt him later. Skaven end of T1 On my turn I get off Spellportal and kill enough Clanrats on the left to BS the rest off the board while ensuring that nothing is range of his 9 Jezzails other than Kairics if he ends up going next. Skyfires knock a few

BoC vs Bloodgullet - Gift from the Heavens

A quasi-rematch and given the battleplan was essentially the proto-Starstrike we decided “narratively speaking” this would just represent another portion of the previous battlefield and thus used a similar set-up.   Learning from the previous match while sticking with Khorne Brass Despoilers, though adding a Doombull,  as the foundation of their army they switched from Darkwalkers to Gavespawn and switched out the generic Brayherd Shaman  for (proxied) Grashrak Fellhoof and his Despoilers.

Nurgle vs BCR 1.75K - Starstrike

Playing against Gutrot Spume and his Slime Fleet if nothing else had taught me to screen my back line.  This time though I’d have my own unit coming out of Ambush in my Icebrow Hunter and a couple of Frost Sabres.  The hope was that once the objectives came down I’d be able to steal one. With the back line screened off Nurgle overloaded one side.  When the PBKs that came on with Gutrot made their charge they erased a unit of Mournfangs before they had a chance to fight back. While

Vanari Dawnriders Review (And Conversion Capability Check)

Hello, I‘ve got my hands on a unit of Vanari Dawnriders which I intended to convert. Wait, past tense? More about that later.    The Vanari Dawnrider Kit consists of three Sprues holding 5 Knights and Horses. The Assembly is pretty straight forward as every Knight consists of 14 parts (2 Horse halves, each consisting of the Armour and the legs, the Horse Head, Front and back of the Knight‘s Torso, Front and back of the Head, two legs, two arms, one holding the reigns and one

Screamers of Tchar n army shot

I pulled these guys off in two days.  I gotta say they were a lot easier than the flamers and gave me a satisfied feeling once they had a healthy clunk when the basing was finished.  After these I think I’m going to finish the silver tower acolytes I’ve had lying around for a few years or start the rest of the horrors.  I might do an army shot later to see how it looks altogether.   here’s a few pictures of the army

More Stuff Added

Just a minor update. I've added another five Deathriders to the army, bringing the total to 10. I acted on the earlier suggestion to create a greater dark to light range in the reds and am pleased. I'm still not using great lighting for photos, but in person I can tell this batch is better. Up next, Stalkers and a new hero.

Which Army for Arkhan?

So I want to paint up a 1,000 point starter army for Arkhan to lead, but Arkhan can be used in a lot of armies - Bonereapers, Legions, and Grand Alliance Death.  Plus in Tomb Kings armies 'Arkhan on a Chariot' has officially been run as Settra or 'Tomb King on Exalted Chariot' since the Compendium days, so there's yet another way to run him.  And my shame pile is sufficiently massive that I could easily put together any of these lists, and honestly I like all of them, and hope one day to paint a

Old Bones Stirring

~ I got that Old Black Magic, rolling in ~ More Pics: Work in Progress: After a year of mostly not working on it, I've finally finished painting my old school Arkhan on flying chariot conversion.  I'm honestly really quite happy with it.  Now I just need an army for him to lead.  I'm not lacking the models for it, I’ve got like 20,000 points of warhammer undead in varying states of assembly & painting, but shamefully I only have exactly 5 fully painted models. ~

Flamers of Completion

I got the flamers finished and based as well as the curseling done.  The curseling was fun and got me thinking of doing some of the new chaos warriors if I could get my hands on some.  Next is either screamers or horrors, I haven’t made up my mind yet.

BoC vs Nurgle - The BIG Test

As “awesome” as a me against all comers dynamic might be 😏a lot of the fun of AoS comes from experiencing a variety of different play styles.  Sure, we could get some of this from changing up the armies more often but realistically this diversity best comes from playing against a variety of different opponents, each with their own playing personality. To achieve this we had to test “concierge” play.  Would the gaming Cage work with two remote players and myself as a 3rd party moving all the

Why I Play the Game - BCR vs BoC Battle Report

After being literally knocked out of football I played golf senior year of high school and through college.  If you were like me, a bogey to double-bogey player on average you hit 90-110 shots in an 18 hole round all for the 3-5 shots that you’d remember.  That 300 yard drive you had that miraculously landed in the fairway, even if you mangled your approach and three putted.  That approach shot from the rough after a bad drive that landed on the green and gave you a shot at birdie, even if you c

Flamers

I got a new hobby area in our new place and I decided to work on my tzeentch stuff while my wife is away.  I started late in the night but I got most of the bass coats done.  The heads and hands may look pink but they are a watered down dark cherry color that I am going to dry brush a lighter shade onto.  I want them to be bright and kind of silly looking so I want to try and paint light shades on them.

Hurricanum and Shards

Been about a month since the last update. My 1k army is coming together quite nicely. Finished off the darkshards and added snow basing to both units. Just got to work out some heraldry for banners and source a few more freeguild, then the battleline are good to go. I've also started thinking about how to bring it up to 2k. Current plan is 3 scourge runner chariots, knight incantor, beefing up the darkshards to 20, more dracoths, and a 30-man block of one of the elite infantry choices. Idea

TTS Tournament #2 Game 2 & 3: Skaventide vs OBR & Seraphon

OBR - Forcing the Hand - GhyranMy List OBR List T1As usual, going off memory so I don't take up time by note-taking, IE things may be a bit wrong but the ending score is correct. He wins on drops and takes T1 Typical T1 for us both of moving up and onto the objectives. Jezzails have nothing to shoot at and no spells are really worth casting. 3-3 deployment T2He wins the roll off and makes me go first. He makes the primary objective the bottom left. TTS Tournament #2 Game 1: Skaventide vs Legion of Night

Legion of Night - The Blades Edge - AqshyMy List LoN List T1 As usual, going off memory so I don't take up time by note-taking, IE things may be a bit wrong but the ending score is correct. Also, yeah.. I need to take a picture at the end of each round instead of just "whenever I remember to take one". I win on drops and allow him to take T1. Boring T1 as expected; he moves everything forward and buffs up the right unit of Skeletons. On my turn, I largely do the same but don
