    Blood Reavers Horde Style Army?

Hi all, got the Khorne part of the old starter set for real chaep and after visiting my LGS, I got some additional Blood Reavers, because I really like those sculpts. In addition, I already had some Khorne models lying around. To be more precise, I right now own the following: Aspiring Deathbringer Bloodsecrator Slaughterpriest Bloodstoker Khorgos Khul (the Lord from the old starter box) 60 Blood Reavers (20 with Blades, 20 with Axes, 20 still in box) 10 Fleshhounds 2 Korgoraths 5 Bloodwarriors (I think I might convert them to some heroes) What I like to do with these models is to run a hords style list centered around Blood Reavers. We use to play 1000 points games here, therefore that´s the points limit I´m heading towards. Any advice on this? Any heroes I should have a look at due to command abilities and special abilities affecting Blood Reavers? Do I need more Bloodreavers? Any other units which are beefier? is there a battallion you can recommend? Thanks in advance Hannibal

Let's chat : Blades of Khorne!

Seems to be a lot of these, and these seem to be popular and a central location for general knowledge and chitchat about the titled topic. couldn't see one for bloodbound, may he mistaken. I know there is alot of other topics on bloodbound, but these seem to be a good starting place for new people, Some of the existing topics are hard to locate unless you know what you're looking for. So, let's chat!
  3. So i've edited this from a purely Wolves of Ghur PLOG (although i strayed from that quite early on) into a PLOG for all of my various AOS armies and related projects past and present and I want to keep this first post as contents section with links to the various armies: Wolves of Ghur (Khorne Bloodbound) - Pages 1 -3 (ongoing) Duardin - Page 1 (complete) Sylvaneth Page 2 (complete) Beastmen (Brayherd, Warherd, Daemons, Monsters of Chaos) Page 3 (complete...for now) Ogors and Gargants Page 3 (complete)

    Help with First Chaos Army

Hi all, I'm trying my hand at an all Khorne bloodbound army, and I would love your advice, especially since I am running two expensive battalions. Bloodbound Allegiances

Hi All I am fairly new to AoS (played a bit of fantasy in secondary school a long, long time ago) and decided to start collecting Khorne Bloodbound. I am enjoying playing a lot but I am getting to a stage were I'd like to take a step up and maybe invest in taking my collection to the 2000pt level. I currently have the Bloodbound half of the AoS starter set (Mighty Chaos Lord, Bloodsecrator, Bloodstoker, Khorgorath, 5 Blood Warriors and 20 Bloodreavers) and was wondering what would be best to add next? I like the look of some of the other chaos factions, Brayherds and Warherds especially but I don't know if these would be fluff friendly allies or indeed if the benefits of expanding to new factions would outweigh any negatives. Also do Daemons and Monsters of Chaos count as part of the core if given the mark of Khorne? (I like the look of Be'lakor, if not maybe a Daemon Prince) Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Sam
  6. So i have recently acquired so old fantasy chaos models from a friend who was doing a bit of purging and i was wondering the viability to adding it into my already growing bloodbound army. (I currently run either gore pilgrims or murder host plus extra) . The extra models i got are: around 30 chaos warriors 10-15 chaos knights 10-15 chaos chosen 2-3 sorcerers (eww) a few heros including old school archeon Does any of this slot in well from peoples experience.. I dont "need" to add them as i have plenty to run pure bloodbound or BB+deamons but just wondering. Also question, since i can mark the StD khorne i can use them in Blades of Khorne allegience right? i Think so but wast 100% bc they arent in the book. Also Also, i got a hellcannon too.....this is compendium, can/how does someone even run this thing anymore? Thanks in advance!

    Khorne Center Piece Model

I have been hopelessly trying to decide which model I should purchase to be the center piece of my Khorne bloodbound army. My army is 95% mortal which is putting me off the Bloodthirsters as their command abilities will be wasted. That being said, the Wrath of Khorne Bloodthister still looks a solid choice, albeit expensive. The other options I am considering : Skarbrand: Expensive for points but packs a punch. No wasted abilities that only work for Daemons. Cool model. Slaughterbrute of Khorne: Relatively cheap (both points and money). Could have my Bloodsecretor as its 'master', he very rarely falls in combat. Does not fill the more precious 'Leader' slots. Other: Does anyone recommend another allied monster, or have reasons for me to include one of the other Bloodthirsters? I think I am leaning towards the Slaughterbrute but any opionions welcome. I have all Khorne heros so any synergies suggested should work. Thanks.

    Critique my 2k Khorne list

I discovered Wargaming with Age of Sigmar a year and a half ago and I started collecting both Stormcast Eternals and Khorne Bloodbound. For my Khorne army I didn't want to use the Bloodcrushers or Skullcrushers, because they don't fit the vision I have for my army. Anyway heres my list: Mighty Lord of Khorne - General, Slaughterborn, Blade of Endless Bloodshed Exalted Deathbringer with Impaling Spear - Blood Drinker Skarr Bloodwrath Bloodsecrator 2 Slaughterpriests - Bronzed Flesh/ Resanguination 10 Blood Warriors - Goreaxe and Gorefist 10 BloodWariors - Goreaxes, 1 Goreglaive 20 Bloodreavers - Reaverblades 20 Bloodreavers - Meatripper Axes 5 Wrathmongers 30 Bloodletters Battalion - Gore Pilgrims 1930 points. I also have: Bloodstoker, Exalted Deathbringer, Aspiring Deathbringer, Skullgrinder, Khorgorath, Lord of Chaos, Chaos Sorcerer Lord, 12 Chaos Warriors, 20 Chaos Marauders, 5 Chaos Knights and a Chaos Chariot. What do you think? Any recommendations/ suggested alterations?
  9. Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I've currently got a fully painted 2000 point Skaven list, but I'm really struggle to make it work in age of Sigmar. It goes alright in against death, destruction and other chaos armies but once order is involved I get shot up horrendously. I have got about 1200 points of Khorne Bloodbound I would like to start painting and build into a competitive 2000 point list that will literally be indestructible against say an order army. What I'm looking for: - a wall of skullcrushers both with Khorne warriors and daemon riders - some bloodletters What I have currently: - 20 blood warriors - 20 blood reavers - 1 mighty lord of Khorne - 1 slaughterpriest - 1 khorgorath - 1 blood secrator - 1 blood stoker - 3 might skullcrushers can anyone help me achieve this list and anything else I might need to just create havoc for the enemy. Thankyou very much Brendan

    Quick question: Gorecleaver

Hey, quick question: The Battletome Blades of Khorne says that a Goreclever causes Mortal Wounds on a 6. It specifically does not say on a 6 or more. So I watched a game at Las Vegas Open where I think they used the rule based on „6 or more“. Was there a FAQ? Or was that a mistake? Cheers Christian

    Khorne bloodbound list query

Hi there I'm new to these forums so apologies if this has been answered previously or has been placed in the wrong area. I'm looking at building a Khorne Bloodbound army list using Skullcrushers as the basis of a Brass Stampede warscroll battalion. However, I wanted to ask the best/most effective way to include another type of unit in order to bolster the Skullcrushers' weaknesses, and also to make the army a little more interesting to paint. 7 units of juggernaut cavalry might become fairly stale, I'm not sure. Any recommendations are welcome, along with a suggestion for a good general to compliment this list. Thanks for your time. Jak.
  12. I've had Skarr part painted on my desk for ages so thought it was about time I pulled my finger out and got him finished. I'm not massivly happy with the silver edge highlighting if I'm honest, Skarr has ridged trim (like the Mighty Lord) that doesn't lend itself to edge highlighting in the same way as a Blood Warrior
  13. Wow, I really didn't post anything for a while. Anyway, life has been quite busy and not much hobby has been done. I've built a battlemage and wanted to give him a sort of a steampunkish look, so tell me what you guys think. I know it's not halflings, but he's definitely going to be allied with my army. I've also got to test out Shadespire with my good friend Chuck Moore @Odiamh , and while I was skeptical at first, now I'm absolutely in love with the game. The rules seem a bit complex at first but once you play 1 or 2 games it becomes a very quick, fun and tactical game. Chuck decided to take the side of Stormcast, while I was playing Khorne. We played the best of three, with him taking the first victory, and me winning the other two. Last game was especially fun, as I killed all three stormcast with a single bloodreaver in the last phase. Check out the pics below! That's it for this update. I'll try to post more hobby and especially halflings as the time allows! Hope you like what I've got, Until next time!

    [Tactica] Blades of Khorne

Hi guys, a while ago I decided to make up a tactica and due to the recent GH2017 release I think it's the right time to think about this. Especially since I'm still very happy to see more Khorne players joining the game as they really offer a great devilish, gladiator or barbarian design many Fantasy genre fans seem to like. Since the start of the write up I decided to cut down the tactica in multiple posts and will try to give a weekly update until we've got pretty much everything covered. Which in turn will likely mean another update once GH2018 hits the shelves. First and foremost the Khorne unit choices will be covered here. Meaning Sorcerers and Allies will not discussed initially but might be added later down the road for players who really want to have these pieces covered. The topic itself will consist out of 8 steps to succes: 1. Changes 2. Allegiance 3. Battalions 4. Getting the most out of your Units 5. Getting the most out of your Battle Rounds 6. Army List preparation 7. Game preparation 8. Following the competative metagame As several reviews can also be found on the internet in regards to Blades of Khorne the topic will be much more focused in terms of how to use these units well instead of compairing them to each other within the book. If you are looking for a review I did one myself before (note under GH2016) and a mate of mine, Josh, also made one himself which covers a lot of units into detail. The reason as to why I will not redo the review here is because in many cases the lists in Age of Sigmar isn't the prime key to constant succes, playing (a list) the right way is. Changes (as per GH2017 and Errata) Another Generals Handbook means another update! But this time just a smaller coverage overall as it will limit itself to the direct changes and the consequences in a more specific way. I feel a lot of stuff is written on the great synergy and “competitive choices” in general while applied unit use or “tactica” is usually much less covered. So this too will be a mix of covering changes but also giving some tips to remain successful with your Khorne army. It's important to start out with the changes though as it means that just having the Blades of Khorne book does mean your working with outdated information. To me knowing what choices you have to work with is the first step to succes. Changes to Khorne Rules First things first, this post covers the larger rules changes to Blades of Khorne from the general Rules Errata and Chaos Errata: http://www.tga.community/forums/topic/6134-lets-chat-khorne/?do=findComment&comment=132256 In (very) short it boiled down to three very relevant things: 1. Blood Tithe points can only be used at the start of the Hero phase 2. Rage of Khorne’s additional attack now isn’t stackable 3. Most pile-in effects have now been clarified to be available when an enemy model is within 3” of the model Artefacts and other abilities have been effected however I’d recommend checking the full post for those details as they differ per entry. One very noteworthy Artefact is The Crimson Crown which thanks to the errata now works at 6 or more, meaning hit effects do apply for it and this makes Bloodletters in particular extremely nasty. It’s worth to mention that Blood Tithe points in general have become less of a supporting factor as before and due to the increase of larger unit sizes the amount of opposing units will usually also be slightly less as before as there is a reward to running for example 30 in one unit as opposed to 3 times 10. Nonetheless the Blood Tithe system is still rewarding and as before focussing on effect 1, 2 and 3 is often more ideal than focussing on the rest. Changes to Khorne Battalions These changes for me personally boiled down to still very much considering the use of Murderhost, Brass Stampede and Gore Pilgrims from the book and Bloodmarked Warband from Everchosen. Other Battalions to me have become less interesting even while some of them (specifically for Khorne Daemons) have not been increased with an additional 100 points. The reason as to why multiple Battalions have become less interesting is because they directly compete with (support) unit costs now. For example quite some Battalions now range from 140 points to 180, this means that in many cases you could have ran an additional unit of Skullcrushers or Wrathmongers instead, which does mean you obtain survivability and access to more Blood Tithe points. Then the Battalions costed 200 points or more to me are just not in contention with the use of say another two Slaughterpriests, two Khorgoraths or even a full Bloodreaver or Marauder unit. Changes to Khorne Units As we are an army very much focused on infantry in general the biggest positive changes we received actually came in the form of running our units at the sizes we’d ideally run them at anyway. The following specific units where effected in a positive way: Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (-30) Bloodthirster of Unfettered Rage (-40) Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (-20) Skullcannons (-20) 30 Bloodletters (-30) Skarr Bloodwrath (-40) 3 Mighty Skullcrushers (-20) 30 Blood Warriors (-80) 40 Bloodreavers (-40) Khorgoraths (-20) Slaughterbrute of Khorne (-20) Chaos Lord on Manticore (-50) Chaos Warshrine (-20) Chaos Knights (-40) Chaos Chosen (-20) 30 Chaos Warriors (-60) Chaos Marauder Horsemen (-10 and -60 for 30) 40 Chaos Marauders (-40) Chaos Spawn (-10) 3 Varanguard (-60) This is a large list which in general is great for us as it allows us to really create new armies, the side effect of this off course is that in order to have a competitive army it’s likely your army will have to change as well. The best parts of this is that Bloodthirster Generals (or with an Artefact) have all become legit good choices. We don’t have a lot of Flying units so this change is very welcome. In addition we see Skarr as a legit choice and running Skullcrushers, Bloodletters, Bloodreavers or Khorgoraths has never been as great. The other changes are nice as well but Blood Warriors as a block of 520 points in one place are still difficult to defend from a tactical level at 2000 points. Over 2000 though a lot of the minor positive changes also contribute to a more well balanced army. The changes in general have been very positive to Blades of Khorne but also Slaves to Darkness. In that same vein the change to Chaos Knights has made them a legit fast choice for us. Marauders are still a very durable horde unit and Marauder Horsemen continue to provide a ranged support with Khorne mark. In addition a Chaos Lord on Manticore can also be a very cool visual centerpiece. Then some units are also increased in cost which are: Valkia the Bloody (+20) Aspiring Deathbringer with Goreaxe and Skullhammer (+20) 5 Skullreapers (+40) I personally think that despite these changes all these units can still be defended as a good choice, however I do feel (largely due to the GH2016 mindset most of us are still in) that in order to take these you will have to take some of the discounted pieces first. I personally don’t expect to run Valkia or the Aspiring Deathbringer but Skullreapers still can have a function if you can find the points for them and feel like running them. The stiffest competition for them now for me are Khorgoraths (as a support Hero replacement) and Wrathmongers or Mighty Skullcrushers (as a smaller shock unit). Khorne GH2017 Costs Knowing your own army is the first step to succes, this is the changes or basically knowing your own basics. If your a veteran to the game these costs become seconadry to talking about units, judging their output versus other pieces in the game but general understanding why X makes a lot of appearances and Y doesn't. Mortal Khorne list advice

Here is a list I am thinking about. I have everything except the Chaos Knights, which I definitely want to include at least one box (10) of. I also have the blood stoker but he never does much for me so I've swapped for Valkia. I really don't want to include any other Khorne demons because I don't like the models but open to other stuff, big monsters, allies etc. Is this a really weak list? Missing something really important? Please let me know! I haven't played any 2000 point games yet but I want to as soon as I get enough models painted. Villanous updates

It has been far far too long since I updated here. There have been some excellent releases recently that have reignited interest in painting. The main theory was that the two Warhammer Quest boxes provide a fairly varied starter set for a small Arcanite force and shouldn't need too much adding to bulk it out a bit more. Anyone that has had the misfortune of reading my threads over on Dakka know that I have lots of ideas and only occasionally get around to fulfilling them all as I'm very easily distracted... so hopefully you can keep me on track with some semi regular posts. I've been experimenting with colours for the Arcanites and the theme appears to have evolved into a combined Chaos force (Tzeentch/Khorne) under the command of a demon known only as the King in Yellow. No-one (least of all me) is quite sure how he has persuaded these two groups to join forces. I have plans for the King, but won't go into them here and now as they need a bit more fleshing out. The prototype Arcanite is this Tzaangor: For the Khorne forces, I've started putting paint to the Gorechosen figures. The yellow of these is actually what started the whole King in Yellow theme. I know there are a couple of other yellow Bloodbound forces on here and really liked the very different take on Khorne, so thought I'd give it a try on one Once he was complete, I needed to find some way to tie him into any other Chaos forces that I did. The Khornate forces are now amore orangey yellow, grey skin tones, black and steel; Tzeentch is a more lemonn-y yellow, purple/blue/turquoise and silver. With those rules now set, I attacked the next most common Slaughterpriest to see if it still flowed through. So, do you think it works?

  18. I've started my very first blog covering my hobby progress. I hope you enjoy the blog as much as I am enjoying the hobby that makes it possible. The Wizard's Workshop is going to focus first on my Khorne Bloodbound force The Bonelords of Khorne. http://wizardsworkshop.wordpress.com It's pretty basic right now. There's still a lot of stuff that I want to add to the blog to make it look better, but there are already a few posts covering my hobby progress. The next few things I want to work on are additional graphics, a fluff section about the Bonelords, links to some of my favorite blogs, etc. I'll also be adding the actual blog posts here to make it easier for people to keep up to date. I'm going to be attaching the first blog post and following posts to this thread in their own posts. Wish me luck, and feel free to visit the blog proper in the mean time! ***** The Bonelords of Khorne are Born I've assembled the majority of my two Bloodbound starter sets for Age of Sigmar, and may I say that these are some of the best chaos models that Games Workshop has ever put out. The only starter models that even come close are the the 40k Chaos Chosen and Chaos Cultists that came with the Dark Vengeance set. For now, I'm just going to talk about the Blood Warriors. I'll be writing another article covering my thoughts on the Bloodreavers, and another on some of the other models later. The sculpting on the Khorne Blood Warrior models have all of the exaggerated depth of detail and sharp lines that I've come to expect from Games Workshop, and personally I find that to be one of my favorite parts of their model lines. One of the major failings that I've seen when working with miniatures from some other companies (especially younger companies) is their details are sculpted without enough depth to really stand out from the rest of the miniature. To be certain, most companies have very talented sculptors who understand the unique differences in small scale sculpting opposed to sculpting in larger scales, but Games Workshop has continued to do a great job of keeping an over-exaggerated style of sculpting in each of their new releases. This style of sculpting allows painting techniques like washes and drybrushing to really stand out in a paintjob. Warning: I'm going to go a bit off track for a second because I want to address something that is closely related to my thoughts on the Blood Warriors. As a hobby focused player I find the idea of duplicate models to be annoying. I feel strongly that each miniature in an army needs to be unique from the rest of the army in some way. One area of sculpting that Games Workshop has really improved on in the past few years is how active their miniatures' poses appear, but the changes they have introduced to make those improvements has caused some other issues. Namely, duplicate models, especially in units with larger than standard unit sizes. The single greatest change that has allowed for these kinds of poses has been the use of the single-pose plastic model. If you compare these new kits to the multi-pose models that have been GW's standard in the past, you can see how they've had to change how they have approached creating their newer models. Single-pose models allow sculptors a degree of freedom that multi-pose models do not. Of course, in order to achieve this freedom they have had to largely abandon the flexibility that the multi-pose models allow players. Multi-pose models allow for far more poses to reduce the chances of duplicates because each part can be placed in a different position. The poses given to the Blood Warrior models are wonderfully dynamic and visually interesting. Each one feels like it's in the middle of combat getting ready to take it's next skull, and where would be a better place to find the devotees of Khorne than in the depth of a pitched battle? Games Workshop's choice to give players single-pose models in their starters has allowed them to produce some very dynamic looking miniatures, but it definitely presents an issue with duplicate models when units made up of minis from multiple starter kits are used. This is certainly nothing new for Games Workshop's starter boxes It took me a long time to decide on a color scheme for the whole warband, and I figured that the Blood Warriors. I'm really tired of painting red as I play Word Bearers for my 40k army, so I didn't want to another mostly red army. I finally settled on a dark bone color for the main color of my Bloodbound. Now, I can't completely paint a Khorne army without some kind of red to honor the god of slaughter and blood, so I'm using red as a spot color for the Khorne symbols. I'm still not sure what color I want to paint their skin. I've thought of painting the skin as lighter tones with hints of blue and purple to contrast against the warm tone of the armor, but I've also been thinking of doing darker skin tones to contrast with the lighter colors of the bone colored armor. I'm also playing around with the idea of painting all of the skin with Blood for the Blood God or Tamia Clear Red so it looks like they are all covered in fresh blood. What to do, what to do. Here's what the beginning of the color scheme looks like on the Lord of Khorne on foot and the Bloodsecrator. I need to work on the lighting in my photo setup, it's a little too dark. I'll add a picture of the Blood Warriors as they currently stand when I fix the lighting. I also grabbed a box of the non-push fit Blood Warriors to see what that kit is like. In short, it's pretty amazing. There are tons of extra bits and some really great sculpts in this box. I'll be assembling these guys with twin Goreaxes and the leader with a Goreglaive rather than the Goreaxe and Gorefist. I'll be able to say more after I've assembled them, so keep an eye out for a post about them. Automatically Appended Next Post: The Conversions Begin After assembling the two Bloodbound starters I was left with an extra Mighty Lord of Khorne, Bloodstoker, and Bloodsecrator. At first I thought about painting them up and selling them off on Ebay. Then I found this lovely article from The Vanus Temple, Age of Sigmar Converted Khorne Models. I highly recommend looking it over, there's a bunch of great articles on all kinds of hobby subjects. The gentleman who runs the website is currently managing a GW store in his area so he's not able to post as much as he did, but his archive is worth digging through. With the inspiration his conversions gave me I was able to have a ton of fun converting my own extras along the same lines. Of course I had to do a little bit of my own thing, but I'm very happy with the results. I kept the same weapons and just switched them from the original Bloodstoker model to the Bloodsecrator. I removed the shoulder armor and loincloth from the cluster of skulls that went over his chest. I used one of the heads from the Wrathmonger kit (another amazing kit that I need to review soon). I used this one because the skin on the lower part of his face has been flayed away to show bare muscle and bone. I has to use some Greenstuff to fill in a gap under his chin, but in the end I think he looks just different enough from both of the original models to stand out on the field. I'm just as pleased with the progress on this conversion even though he's not quite done yet. To be honest he's been a bigger challenge as I had do more extensive surgery to get the parts to fit correctly. Ultimately, I switched out the head of the original Bloodsecrator axe for another axe from the Wrathmonger kit. I wanted this guy to appear just as terrifying as the original model, but show that Khorne's blessing take many forms. Getting the head to fit correctly required me to pin the head so that it rested well above the shoulders. This left a large gap between the chin and the rest of the body. I added a double chin under the helmet and started some basic stringy hair going down the back of his head. I'm going to be adding some more to cover up the areas I cut away the original hair. I honestly wish I had thought this through a bit more and left the original hair, ah well that's the joy of experimentation. (insert picture of the Bloodsecrator Portal of Blood) I also removed the extra bangles from the banner itself to give it a different visual profile. I need to figure out what to add to the banner to Khorne it up some more. For the extra Mighty Lord of Khorne this other article from the one and only Morbak, Arch-Warlord Bogdan Blottrinker has given me some wonderful inspiration for what to do. I have yet to start working on this conversion, but I'll be sure to post up progress as I make it.
