  1. GW does those things to you. Many people thought they were safe investing modelling time and a bunch on money in WHFB and GW nuked it. That's why for many veterans company-supported is just one of several desirable things to look for in a game, but only one among many.
  2. I have most of my warmaster minis rebased for minihammer (basically half-scale warhammer or in this case 9th age, the advantage being you can play it on your average kitchen table.) I've always thought kow works better in smaller than 28mm so there's an option there too.
  3. Exactly. Most of our AoS minis are in squares, and although we measure base to base we try not to gain an unfair advantage about it (although in my worldview a wall of pikes/spears should be exactly that). My warmaster HE dragon is barely taller than a SCE mini. I really don't think that's where they're going. This is an obvious bone thrown to the people still playing in square-base world (whatever the ruleset). Bringing warmaster back is a much smaller addressable market.
  4. It ticks the old world and square bases boxes, and I'd certainly love new minis for it but: 1.- I don't see big centerpiece plastic GW going back to 10mm 2.- The base in the video is very much a WHFB base.
  5. If a promo centered around square bases and linking square bases and the old world turned out to be anything other than a rank and file game in the old WHFB mould it would be the worst case of bait&switch ever.
  6. Well pretty much the only thing we know atm is that it will have square bases in it.
  7. Well we don't play at a LGS, we have our own club because the LGS only has two tables and are mostly taken by MtG and Xwing nowadays. We as a club do recruiting at the LGS.... But the guys who have committed resources (full painted demo armies, even lending full or 3/4 full armies to new recruits) still live in square-base world. I'll talk to them about doing my own recruit rounds for AoS.
  8. You said the old community around you just stopped showing up, did they find other games or just quit for the time being? I find it very hard to get people committed to AoS because for the most part our club just kept playing 8th first and now it's all basically 9th age with only 3 of us playing AoS more or less regularly. We did a 3v3v3 battle once, and everyone seemed to have fun, but most of us are in our late 30s or early 40s and people just don't want to commit to learning and getting the most of another game, even if it uses the same minis (another club member tried to attract people to KoW, with the same results). Those who left WH for the most part have picked up Xwing or Infinity which are also very time consuming to be up to date to. This is a small town so I'm pretty much stuck with this group. Should I keep trying?
