  7. Whilst I fully understand what you are getting at there, a TO cannot possibly know the answer to every possible question. Again, alot of grey areas in a game not designed for tournaments, and not just army selection. By all means, if they are aware of it, it should be included. But it would be unwise to assume they know everything. Anyway, thats probably more a topic for general discussion.
  8. Not to worry, turns out I'd misunderstood you! Perhaps it may have been better to say (and what I was trying to get at was) is that if there's any confusion, ask the TO first.
  9. Ok, so I'm going to have to read around the grammer on this one. Do not confuse the way GW had points values for the current 'Wight King with Cursed Sword' (or whatever have you) and the Compendium Wight King with infernal standard, or on skeletal steed. Most likely its an oversite on GW's part, as both have identical options. But, as you have clearly said, we must follow the rules exactly as presented. The Generals Handbook states that their are points values for the old version of the hero. I choose to take the Compendium Wight King and can therefore take the Battalion: Damn, meant to be a pic here...(https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/AoS_Compendiums/warhammer-aos-vampire-counts-en.pdf page 19) As for your second point, no, I do not remember it. I do know, however, that any TO can impose any extra rules he chooses, without the express permission of GW. So, yes, they are guidelines and EVERY tournament will deviate from them from somewhere between slighty (minor losses for example, these are not in the Handbook or anywhere else) and Majorily (SCGT bespoke missions, preview points values, comping priority dice rolls). Perhaps you need to calm down a little about this subject and realise there is alot of grey area in a game not designed for tournaments.
  10. I wouldnt worry too much, most TO's wont be as strict with their interpretations of the rules (as the most important rule of the game is that the rules are a guideline, so if the TO is cool with, its all good, thats probably a debate for another thread) and overall the community is very chilled about this sort of thing.
  11. You brought this up before, and not to re-hash anything said above, you can use Legion of Death. In the Compendium points values there are points for a 'Wight King with Infernal Standard' and 'Wight King on Skeleton Steed'. There are no units with this specific name, but is an option of the generic Wight King as presented in the Vampire Counts Compendium. As this unit has no suffix, it complies with your interpretation of the rules.
  12. Yep, you will need them. I dont know if you intend to take this list to events, but if you do, practise moving this amount of models around to the clock. It only takes one slow opponent who scores high early on to ruin your event. If you do encounter a 2+ re-roll save hero/monster, chances are there is only one. Use one unit of skellies as a tar pit, when they are on the verge of collapse, throw in another. The other advantage of big units is that if you can surround monsters, and they cannot fly, you stop them being able to retreat.
  13. Black Knights can be unwieldy, the larger bases means you cant get them to attack with their pitiful 1" range. For the same points as 5 Knights you can get 10 Wolves, roughly the same statline. The Necromancer has his own rules for avoiding being hurt, I dont neccessarily think the ring is worth the points on him. A second necromancer would have the same effect as well as an extra spell to cast. I dont know enough about dusty bones to comment about their effectivenss, sorry.
  14. It can be hard to convey emotion in an internet post, but I honestly I didnt take this list that seriously. I took something that I knew would be hard to deal with and hopefully bag a qualification. I took stuff that I thought looked cool, and I wanted to use my favourite two characters from the Old World, Kemmler and Krell. The extra attack has made the difference between wiping units out and units running away to capture objectives. Pile in dependant, its potentially an extra 20-30 attacks. Otherwise, making a unit champ the general... does not feel right. I'm really not that 'into' tournament games enough to sacrifice my rule of cool. The cloak was useful for the King with banner, as once he has planted he cannot move. As the cloak is 're-deploy', and not movement, he cab keep the range at 18". Though, I know it is contentious. In the end I didnt use it for that purpose so no arguments there. Until the FAQ's they both cut about with rings. I could of cut points somewhere to buy one ring afterward, but I had everything painted and I rarely used them anyway. I love the Spooky Ghost Bus, and all but one opponent gave it far too much credit in game. The one time D3 mortal wounds bomb is funny to use though.
  15. Yes, that was me. Something of a surprise all round that. Just going to assume everyone roughly know what I was using by now. Its not particually big or clever pushing that many models around. I did not properly finish two games (though one of those was due to a slow ass motherf...) and even in the games I did, it was an effort. I seriously cant emphasise that enough, if you can/will not learn to play fast with that list, you will not get past turn 2. Start the game with the end in mind, the only game I lost was due to me being a mong and trying to kill enemy models (Hi Byron!) rather sitting on objectives. I did nearly get tabled by Sylvaneth in three places, but I'd seized all objectives in the first turn with three characters with Cloak of Mist and Shadows (Kemmler, compendium using scumbag that I am) and my opponent could only seize with two characters. Having no rend against Allariele was crippling. A pair of Wight Kings were a redundancy system. The general buffed Minions to a 5+, the other carried an Infernal Standard for an additional 6+. Killing either had the same drop in surviveability. Minions is incredibly hard to completely erase as the Necromancer and Kemmler have a special 4/2+ wound deflection mechanic. If you play it right, you end up with 40 skellies sat on an objective with 3 saves and a potential 4 attacks range 2" each. Once you get the hang of it, its actually quite dull and I'll admit its probably not much fun for your opponent. But again, dont think its easy pushing that many models around, it is simple on paper and principle.
