  1. *Taps microphone* Is this thing on? Wow, it's been quite a while since the last time I posted on here, but I'm back! Where have I been I hear you asking? Where can I find more of the tutorials I have come to expect from Mengel Miniatures? Read on to find out!View the full article

  3. They're aztec dinosaur people riding other dinosaurs, what's not to love about that! What? You wanted a more in depth article than that? I mean, if you're not hooked by that first sentence... Okay, I guess I can go into it more, but, I mean, dinosaur people! So, what makes the Seraphon such a cool army to collect and play? Lets find out! (It's cause of the dinosaur people. Obviously.)View the full article
  4. The wait is finally over! The final book of the Arks of Omen series, and the much anticipated return of a certain Primarch has finally arrived. The Lion is here, and with him the conclusion of Vashtorr's nefarious scheme. What has he been building to? Where did the Lion come from? How's Dante involved? Let's find out!View the full article
  5. Welcome back to Arks Week here at Mengel Miniatures! With the final book in the series, The Lion, announced, it's time to cover the three books that followed Abaddon. Monday saw angry Ron, and Wednesday we covered the nefarious Vashtorr. Today we take a look at the hero of the T'au Empire, and one of the coolest characters in 40k (in my humble opinion), Commander Farsight! This is the first book to not focus on a Chaos character, and the only one to have a xenos front and center. What does Farsight have to do with Vashtorr's collection of artifacts? Let's find out! 6. Welcome back to Arks Week here at Mengel Miniatures! With the final book in the series, The Lion, announced, it's time to cover the three books that followed Abaddon. Monday saw the angry red giant burst into the scene, and today we take a look at the IT support of the ruinous powers, Vashtorr! What nefarious schemes does this half machine, half demon have in store for the Imperium? What are his plans for the artifacts he's collecting? Let's find out!View the full article
  7. Welcome to Arks Week here at Mengel Miniatures! With the final book in the series, The Lion, announced, it's time to cover the three books that followed Abaddon, kicking off today with the angriest of the Arks books, Angron! What has the most violent of the Emperor's sons been up to since his return to the galaxy? Let's find out!View the full article
  8. Do you like robots? How about yellow space-elf robots? Well then you're in luck, because so do I! I've always had a soft spot for these unfortunate Eldar and with the ease of contrast paints it seemed like the perfect time to tackle them in a step by step painting tutorial!View the full article
  9. It's no secret that The Old World game is coming, and probably sometime in the next year or two at this point. We've even had quite a bit confirmed about it, but there's still a lot of mystery surrounding the return to the world-that-was. A few things we know for sure is that it will be 28mm, so existing armies and models will be compatible, and that it will be on square bases again. With all of the new stuff for AoS though that will seemingly be compatible with the Old World, part of me wonders about how the square bases will be implemented. Join me, on my journey into the speculative for this new game!View the full article
  10. Do you hear the siren call of the bestial wild? Then the Beasts of Chaos might be for you! These true children of Chaos have long been a staple of the Warhammer universe, and in my opinion are one of the coolest looking armies. With a new battletome, updated lore, new rules, and a brand new Beastlord model, now is the perfect time to jump in. I even have a special guest contributor today in the form of the one and only Eat Bray Love to show off his amazing army and talk a bit about what makes the models so cool!View the full article
  11. Although I started out this hobby by playing 40k back in the mists of time known as 3rd edition, I've been primarily an AoS player for the last few years. Since 9th edition launched I've been slowly dipping my toe back into gaming on the 40k side and went to my first tournament this past Fall using the Nephilim book. Now a new Grand Tournament Mission Pack is upon us, with changes to how the Matched Play version of the game is played. Instead of a standard review of the book, I'm going to instead look at it through the lens of an AoS player. So, what does the Arks of Omen pack contain?View the full article
  12. The latest narrative series of supplements for 40k is here in the form of the Arks of Omen! This will be a series of books, with each on focusing on a different character, starting off with the big bad himself, Abaddon. So what does this book contain within its damned covers and what evils does it portend for the Imperium of Man?View the full article
  13. I'm a big fan of local businesses, so when Gray Matter Gaming, based out of Metro Detroit in Michigan, asked me if I would like to take a look at their battle mats and movement trays I couldn't pass up the opportunity. This company took two staples of modern gaming and put their own spin on them to introduce elements to increase the ease of use by the average gamer. So how do they stack up against the competition? 14. More and more often models are coming with "special effects" modeled on them, with the most common of those being fire. Everyone knows what fire looks like, but it can be a bit tricky to paint sometimes. Recently I worked on the Mawpot for my Ogor Mawtribes, and took the opportunity to make a tutorial on how I tackled this hot issue.View the full article
  15. We're now into our second year of Warhammer+ and so far we've had several animations, as well as battle reports and painting videos, but I feel like there are some missed opportunities here. While I'm enjoying the animations, I have a few ideas for other shows that could be hosted on the platform.View the full article
  16. I recently got my first wet palette ever with the Redgrass Games Everlasting Wet Palette, and after holding off for so long I'm definitely a convert. Well, Redgrass Games was nice enough to send me their new V2 Painter Wet Palette that's now available to check out alongside some other cool add ons, so let's take a look!View the full article
  17. It's no secret that at the moment the Ogor Mawtribes lack any real special characters. Sure, they have the two Underworlds models, but you can't even buy one of them anymore. While their model line may be lacking, their lore has two prime candidates in the form of Braggoth Varduk and Globb Glittermaw. The second one's name may seem familiar to you if you're a more veteran player, it did to me too, which led me to a debut article style I'm calling; Tyler's Tinfoil Hat Time!View the full article
  18. With the release of the new Ogor Mawtribes book I decided I would take a new approach at covering it on my Mengel Miniatures. Since I caught the Ogor bug myself with this release and started my own army of them, I figured why not cover the reasons to collect and paint them?View the full article
  19. I've always been a fan of the Ogors, and have a few false starts with them, but with the newest Battletome I've decided to finally take the plunge and do a proper Ogor army! As far as I was concerned there was only one way I was going to paint them, in the colors of nostalgia.View the full article
  20. While we all love our miniatures, we sometimes forget about the importance of the tools we use to assemble them. Where would our stalwart Space Marines be without the clippers and knives used to put them together? Games Workshop has refreshed their own line of hobby tools to help you accomplish just that, so let's take a look at them!View the full article
  21. There's more to the Sons of Behemat than just some fancy new rules though, they have fancy new lore too! Being a rather new addition to the setting, there's still tons of room to flesh out this gigantic army, and this new book definitely takes advantage of it. As much of a Death fan as I am, I always love Destruction lore because it's all just so much fun!View the full article
  22. Fe-fi-fo-fum, the Sons of Behemat once again shake the mortal realms to their foundations with their mere tread. Everyone's favorite gigantic rabble-rousers are back with the second iteration of their battletome and they have a few new tricks up their, er, well, they have new tricks. Let's find out what these monstrous behemoths have in store!View the full article
  23. Back in the mists of time of the 1st edition of Age of Sigmar, Disciples of Tzeentch was actually the first god centric book to come out that encompassed all of the mortal and demonic units for said god. Now, in 3rd edition, we're appropriately onto the 3rd version of the Changer of Ways favorite army. So, what's changed in the lore and rules for everyone's favorite technicolored army?View the full article
  24. Are you like me and have a full Chaos Daemons army already for Age of Sigmar? Are you also 40-Kurious? Well, then you're in luck, since the new 40K Codex for Chaos Daemons just came out! With this handy tome you can easily transfer your Mortal Realms ravaging daemons into the grim darkness of the far future. So, what does this book contain? Let's find out!View the full article
  25. Something wild has been stirring in the world of Warcry and it's finally been unleashed in the form of Warcry: Heart of Ghur! This is the new starter set for the brand new second edition of everyone's favorite Mortal Realms themed skirmish game. So what comes in the box and what's changed in the game? Let's find out!View the full article
