  1. Thanks a lot! As far as the troops go, I really only dislike our poor Saurus Warriors, and for now I'm not planning on getting any of them. I have a box of Skinks on the way, though, which I really like. You fellas can definitely expect the odd conversion here and there - I'm working on the Skink Pries for my Stegadon as we speak :) Yes, TW pretty much hit it out of the park with their designs and I hope GW will take them as an inspiration for future Seraphon updates. Until recently, I was in the same boat as you, but I've finally come around to getting those sculps I really enjoy or can fix myself: - Stegadon - Carno - Terradons - Skinks - Slann (might be slightly out of scale by now, need to check)
  2. Hey everyone, what better occasion to jump back into the hobby than a couple of weeks working from home? This time around, I decided to go for an old love of mine – the lizard people of old Lustria– and the first stop is the Carnosaur. Oh boy. Back when this sculpt was released, I wanted to love him so bad, but for me it just missed the mark with it its teeny tiny head and piggy nose. The Troglodon looked fairly cool, however I wanted to have the big T-Rex chomping and stomping around, so I decided to roll my sleeves up and "fix" it myself. This is my WIP (Scar Vet for scale): There is still a lot to be done, but I think it's clear enough where I'm going with this. My main issue with the original sculpt is the head. It's way too small and stubby for my taste and, being a dinosaur enthusiast since my early childhood, I wanted something more meaty. To achieve that effect, I increased the distance between each half of the upper and lower jaw by a good bit, pinning the parts with wire and stuffing the gap with modelling putty. The crest piece (the one without ornaments) does have some convenient grooves which you can cut to bend the lateral parts outward and extend it. The teeth have been cut from the saddle parts, which come in two sizes. I will have to find some more bits to get a few smaller teeth in there as well. A bigger head needs a bigger neck as well, so I filled up the space between chin and chest with some Milliput. Later, I added a layer of procreate to sculpt the scales on top. Another thing that irked me were the raptor claws on both the hands and the feet, so off came the thumbs. The rest is just layers of modelling putty on top of each other to get the head and scales right. The face in particular will still need quite a bit of work, but I'm positive that I can show some progress throughout the weekend. I hope you like it so far. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated. Stay safe everyone!
  3. There is no way of fielding a riderless carnosaur or stegadon, is there?
  4. It looks like this could be a time saver for people who are looking for a basic paintjob, which is something I do believe there is a demand for. I don't believe, however, that this is suitable for advanced paintjobs. You will lose the control that two seperate steps of basecoating and washing provide and the difference does show on the previewed miniatures. I'd say this is a godsend for beginners and not very interesting for intermediate or advanced painters, but I'm curious to see what people will make of this.
  5. How long before we can expect news from LVO today?
  6. Just rearranging a few bits and calling it a new unit seems lazy. People certainly would have preferred a new sculpt, but I guess it was an ok move for the early stages of AoS. Now, the Varghulf Courtier does need a new sculpt (pretty please?)
  7. How probable do you think it is that Dire Wolves will be incorporated into FEC with the new battletome? It makes sense for royalty to employ hunting dogs, doesn't it? Do you think it would make sense from a gameplay perspective to add them to the roster?
  8. That is good to know, thank you! Would you mind posting a photo when you have the chance?
  9. Heyho, does any of you own demigryhs and gryph chargers? I'm planning on unsing the latter to convert Demigryph Knights, but I'm not sure how they compare size-wise. The Gryph Chargers look to be slightly bigger, but I'd like to make sure before commiting to a purchase. Thanks a lot!
  10. I rage quit when AoS was confirmed to kill WHFB and sold all the stuff I wasn't attached to. Now, that GW expands on the lore and game mechanics, I'm back in with some new and old stuff (Sigvald is patiently waiting for his imminent return :P)
  11. Another possibility is Sigmar's dead wife Rovina. That would fan the flames and raise the stakes quite a bit. It's not very probable though since she has never been established outside Time of Legends, I think. All things considered, Isabella makes most sense as the wailing widow mortarch of grief.
  12. "There’s a whole spirit host of new models on the way. The Nighthaunt army is led by three named characters – here’s a first look at one:" I guess it's one of the three leaders, but it might still be a vampire ... hoping for Vlad or Konrad
  13. Can't wait to ally some of those gorgeous models to my LoN ...
  14. That King is marvelous! Relly looking forward to your Longbeards. I'm wondering if you could make use of Wyldwoods in this army to represent their connection to the forest. PS: did you make those 3D files yourself?
  15. Cmon, it's hyperbole - he doesn't actually hate Stormcast players. He might resent them though ?
  16. They should explore the myriad other facets related to ecstasy and excess that are not necessary related to sex, so it's not on the foreground. While I don't think sexual content is a particularly bad thing to have in this context, I dont need genitalia all over my models. That said, 6th ed Slaanesh miniatures were almost perfect for m: A more slender and elegant version of the otherwise rather chunky chaos aesthetic with a few mammaries here and there. Bizarre yes, but not outright pornographic.
  17. I would not be surprised to see a good amount of adults picking these up as well. It's a new thing to collect within the franchise, even if it is aimed primarily at children.
  18. Then please share them. If there is a legitimate problem with the point generation mechanic, than it would be better for everyone if you just let people know so it can be fixed ahead of time.
  19. I remember there being a character in the Sigvald novels that was basically a giant gluttonous head with tentacles. I still have a giant's head lying around somewhere that I intended to use as a base for a conversion of that guy. I should go and look for it.
  20. Oh, it is a disadvantage - definitely. The trade-off is that you are forced to buy and use a certain set of miniatures. It's driving sales and giving the player some additional benefit in return. I'm not too big of a fan either, but it's not a dealbreaker as far as I'm concerned.
  21. This. Battalions Warscrolls seem to give you a headstart, but each player will generate exactly one point in each turn regardless. I do like the change in general, since now new heroes might become viable options (looking at you, Wight King).

Lovely conversion. The standard heads have always looked silly to me.
