  1. Wonder it we'll get a decent road map at some point, or will be an only 2023 road map. Feels AoS is desperate for som clarity. I note 10th 40k we had the big splash of tyranids and marines, but then 2023 dribbled out with a very lame adeptus mechanicus release (one....interesting small character) and limited necron release (two decent but small special charscters and a new overlord). Kharadons, idoneth and fyreslayers are crying out for a 3-4 kit release - new charactee, unit, larger monsters. Lumineth water temple also may be on the cards with the river lords + coral/marine life teasers? And if ogors don't get a decent release soon, are they on the chopping block? Don't suppose our rumour lords could sneeze out anything more? I understand chaos duradins might be in, but that could be 6 months or two years from now? Also surely mountain clan dwarves in AoS don't survive in the new CoS index? Like we lost BoC, bonesplittaz, warcey and a lot of SCE, but I don't think the cull is over. Like seems pretty obvious dark elves havent moved over to the old world purely because they arent ready to release Malerion. Moment he comes in with new dark elves, they are out, who knows whether it'll be in 4th edition. But kinda feels now, Malerion will join DoK as a larger book, similar to the new orruk warclans, which will now only be ironjawz and kruelboyz.
  2. Well you did say BoC were going...and they are...real dissapointment tbh At least I can get my hopes up about chaos dwarves and and Malerion dark elves one day?
  3. Its not that im denying what whitefang said. Its more to point out i am dubious malerion is now on the radar for sometime if chaos dwarves are going to be slated for 4th edition. There are so many games filling out the GW calendar, would'nt be surprised GW spreading out AoS releases. Maybe we'll see Malerion in 5th edition. I must admit the full square base BoC stuff does concern me a bit which is a shame. Lots of the range needs a refresh, but the gorgon/cygor kit is amazing. Minotaurs do look a bit clunky for the AoS range, kroxigor/ogroids/troggoths look a lot better as kits.
  4. Wonder if the index will purge duradins from CoS? I believe there is not meant to be any kits across AoS & ToW? Like all the old races from ToW dont use any AoS models offically and try to restrict them? Thats why skaven, seraphon and vampires aren't in ToW? Too many useful old kits? They purged 'black orcs' from AoS to make way for them in ToW. Is the steam tank in model in ToW? Savage orks? Some shared models between the two systems? So the launch of mountain holds and the CoS battletome becoming obselete sounds like the time duradin will get purged. I really hope we get a road map, because based off 10th edition 40k, we will get the following this year 1) 4th edition launch box 2) 2nd wave SCE & skaven 3) 1-2 tiny releases for two more armies (usual foot hero and battletome). I note some armies are beyond crying out for a larger release (kharadon, idoneth, fyreslayers), similar to the sylvaneth release of (2022?). When was the last time we got a proper new army? Sons of B? Bonereapers? Seems its years between fully new army releases. Its been years, but im pretty dubious about the claims both malerion and chaos dwarves are both coming in 4th edition.
  5. Well that was a mostly predictable LVO, for AoS, with the exception of the new DoK hero. The hero is great. I was hoping for something more than just the teasers from December, c'est le vie. I am definitly keen for the Lumineth water caste, and seem pretty clearly to be the taster for the next wave including a mage and water beast/elemental. I can't imagine we'll get the zenith caste and tyrion alongside water stuff as well, feels too big a release. Maybe something similar in size to the sylvaneth wave from 2022. I found the descriptions during the LVO reveal, of morthai is "blood" aligned and the new crone model is shadow to be well...dumb. Morthai literally is called the "shadow queen". It feels like DoK are still occupying the conceptul space of aelves with connections to the shadow realm and as such I am less inclined to believe Malerions elves are coming anytime soon though, maybe years away sadly. Feels a lot of their concepts like the warcry shadowstalkers and this new hero could have easily gone to him. I believe the next big reveal is more likely to be adepticon? March?
  6. Look it is possible two 2 dawnbringers, including the SBG's release is and the rest of FeC is what we are getting, but they released four battletomes in 2021 right up until 3rd edition was released, including SBG's massive release and a sizeable LRL 2nd wave (probably delayed by covid). Also FeC was a substantial release, so might be quiet for a few months, but it feels some battletomes may still be crammed in there. I would love a second IDK or Kharsdon wave, since they have only recieved limited hero releases and could use a little fleshing out like the latest sylvaneth wave. Still if i remember LvO 2023 was sneaky and we saw like...half of the seraphon release (saurus warriors, slan, raptadons). The rest came later in the year. But the seraphon updates were amazing and truly carried them wholly into AoS, like...if skaven are getting that treatment soon, exciting stuff! 2022 was only the arena of shades, so a NH and DoK foot hero, the ghosts with crossbows i think? Not not exciting at all (although NH did get that amazing dude in the boat). So 2023 LvO was pretty solid, 2022 a bit meh for AoS releases. Guess all we can do is wait!
  7. Kinda curious as to what we may see at LVO, specifically AoS, not warcry/underworlds. If I remember correctly, Kruelboyz were announced at the end of May 2021 and released months later in the Dominion box. Seems unlikely we will see anything related to the 4th edition starter set, so doubt we will see skaven or stormcast. Maybe GW will attempt to cram in some battletomes with single foot figure releases before June/July. Maggotkin is one of the oldest, along with stormcast, fyreslayers, idoneth, nighthaunt, DK. Maybe some of these will get redone.
  8. I think the old world reveal has well...revealed something interesting. Specifically ogre kindgoms and skaven are not getting supported for the old world, but BoC are one of the supported races. It suggests to me, that skaven and ogors are due for full revamps this year (skaven) and ogors next year. Other old world races, Vampire counts got their big revamp 2022 and seraphon 2023, and warriors of chaos had a bunch of new kits. It seems more plausible the races not going to the old world are in the process of their revamp, at the rate of one old world army at most once a year. Maybe BoC 2026. The fact dwarfs are so emphasised for old world to me suggests they will be gone in the next cities of sigmar book, with the newer kits like ironbreakers and hammers getting moved sideways to the old world. I wonder if trollslayers will be supported in the old world given they never had a plastic release in warhammer and the existance of fyreslayers. The fact that dark elves are not in the old world and that none of their kits (including the very old corsairs) have been retired makes me suspicious that the AoS Malkieth faction are still a couple of years off. If i remember correctly the really old high elf kits (pre-2010) started to be phased out before lumineth realm lords in 2020. Most of the dark elf kits are post 2010. If people are willing to still buy dark elves in AoS, and they intend to do a full revamp for an AoS Dark elves faction, maybe they will hold off and then re-introduce dark elves to the old world in a few years. With the excitement for chaos dwarves...i'll believe it when I see it. I get squats got brought back as a great new interation as leagues of votann and I love chaos dwaves in total war warhammer. And we are due a 'new army', the last being sorta of the kruelboyz release. But don't want to get too excited, even though i would buy a laamsu, great tarus or ka'dai destroyer in a heart beat. Maybe if I chant lamassu and 'k'dai destroyer' enough, or just start making random posts saying "lamassu" and 'k'dai destroyer' I can bewitch whitefang into a reaction.
  9. I'm excited by the tomb king release, if only to have access to the sphinx, stalkers and necropolis knights (the necrosphinx being in my top five minatures ever made). I am ready to be dissapointed, based off the Bretonnian preview, that we are unlikely to see an updated settra, queen, tomb scorpion, screaming skull catapult, casket of souls, bone giant or carrion. I really hope the very very aged skeleton warriors and chariots are updated. I do not feel they stand the test of time and were already outdated 20 years ago (unlike the Bretonnian men at arms, bowmen and knights). Would be interesting to see what is released, likely a new liche priest.
  10. Sorry I missed the part where they said there would be more kits?
  11. So with 2022 mapped out, the oldest armybook is BOC (2018) I believe? Followed by Gitz, Fleshcourts, Blades of Khorne, Bonereapers, Cities of Sigmar (all 2019). Then kharadon and seraphon (2020). Although obviously, GW don't mind rehashing more recent armies. It also seems the trend of big new armies have fallen off (like kharadon, deepkin, lumineth, nighthaunt, bonereapers) with no new army this year (maybe Kruelboys were nearly their own army with the number of kits?). At most, only one classic army gets a big face lift a year (soulblight 2021 and slaves to darkness 2022). So maybe seraphon or BOC get a big face lift next year. Maybe a new army like Malerions elves. Probably single hero releases for any other armybooks getting 2.0 or 3.0 releases. Or a 3rd hedonite book and 4th daughters of khaine and LRL 😄
  12. Glutos - 475 Sigvald - 265 Lord of pain - 155 Shardspeaker - 150 Blissbarb archers - 180 2 x 5 painbringers - 320 2 x slickblades - 460 2005 points *eye roll* seriously gw. Thanks for all these 5 points. Mebbe I can play the list if there is a points drops for slaanesh in 6 months.
  13. Anyone's army mostly look safe even with all the new edition changes? Was worried that my 6 fiends would take a hit with the cap of +1/-1 but I feel with monsters potentially becoming more of a thing they will still be useful. Otherwise glutos, sigvald, slickblades and blissbarb archers all still looking pretty good. Might even try one of new twins if I can figure out something good
  14. So after determining that lumineth is probably one of the most stable armies to transfer to AoS 3.0, I'm looking for advice for combining random models into a list that won't get bulldozed all the time but contains lots of models that I want. The core of the list will likely be: Avenelor and Svirareth OR teclis 20 wardens 20 sentinels I then run into trouble. I love the Vanari lord model and his support for wardens and sentinels without teclis. I love the stone and wind mage and understand they both are amazing with their respective special character (avenelor and Svirareth). I really want some bladelords but understand they only had a purpose with a character to protect and I understand a calthar are really valuable. I assume that I am lacking bodies on the board. Does the following work. Avaenlor Sviareth Cathalar Reagent lord Wind OR stonemage 5 bladelords 20 sentinels 20 wardens Then 10 more wardens and/or 10 sentinels? Am i lacking too much speed? I'm not 100% keen on 30 wardens and 30 sentinels. Do I need some dawnriders? Can windchargers work in groups of five without their respective nation?
  15. I'm currently feeling a list with: Vhohdrai Coven throne Blood knights Varghiests Vengorian Terrorgiests Fast, hard hitting, lots of great models. I dunno probably suck but think it would look great. Vhodrai with a coven throne or 10 blood knights with a coven throne could be epic. From what i can tell, with the right buffs, you can heal up vhodrai quite a bit as well (d6 here and there, d3 if you take battalion). Seems fun.
  16. Trying to build a list around basically only new models. The list doesn't have to be amazingly compeditive, but since I can't fit everything in 2000 points happy to be flexible. I want minimum glutos: Glutos Sigvald Shardspeaker Battleline: 2 x 10 blissbarb 5 x chaos warriors (converted from cypher lords) Then I was hoping to take a combination of either: 10 slickblades 5-10 painbringers 3-6 fiends. For summoning what is the bare minimum to mostly make DP points work. I have an KoS ready to go, but I really don't know if i want to paint 30 demonettes. Is 20 enough and 3 fiends? I don't want to do chariots or daemonic cavalry. Will this range of models come together to make a sort of ok list. Or is it a bit too all over the place?
  17. Hi, newboe skaven player here (played them back in 4th and 5th edition). Looking for general advice about how to flesh out the army for 2000 points. I'm not a super compeditive player (anymore!) But dont want to be rolled over either. I like centre pieces so looking to minimum include: - screaming bell - vermin lord - 6 stormfiends - stormvermin Would also like to try fitting in the following: - doomwheels - hellpit abominations - deathmaster assassin - plague furnance - lightning cannon. - thanquol Looking to avoid the old metal clan skyre stuff (apart of Ikit claw). So no old jezzials or poison wind globdairs (can't afford them!). Any general hints or ideas to making these combindations work? I assume ill need the base line 2 x 20 clanrats, 1 x 20 stormvermin for battleline. I also note that the screaming bell, any form of the verminlord and storm fiends and my battleline is already most of my army (like 1300 points i think?). I understand some matchups are not perfect, just i love putting together allcomers lists with lots of great models! Open to any general ideas or things to note for skaven in 2020 (still awaiting my battletome)
  18. I must say this has been one of the more complicated armies to plan a list around. I'm a medium gamer, more model focused player these days. So creating a standard (2k) list I wanted Teclis and Avelenor in there. Oh dear half my points. I had the same problems with Slyvaneth (i wanted allarielle and drycha straight away). So building the list now I'm thinking. Zaietrc (super reliable casting) Teclis Avenalor 1 x stonemage 20 x wardens 10 x wardens 20 x sentinels 10 x stoneguard 1990 The general idea is. - synergy between alarith units, becoming significant anvils OR hammers using spells and well timed aetherquartz. Both stoneguard and aveenlor can do a lot of damage, however will struggle to get to choose their own combats due to speed. I feel that I need reliable damage units though, who benefit greatly from buffs but don't exclusively require them. - 20 wardens to hold a backline objective/protect teclis and casts spells on avelenor/sentinels when not needing Hysh. With some buffs they should be able to hold their own until help arrives, with the exception of the scariest units. - 10 wardens to screen whoever needs it (they will def die) and cast spells. I need them to boost battleline. - 20 sentinels to snipe key characters or put mortal wounds on critical targets. If you buff them correctly (hysh and rerolls to hit from teclis) you are hopefully putting on 10 mortal wounds on a target within 30" and reducing their effectiveness. - teclis will buff and act as a swiss army knife, utilising well timed spells/shooting attack to help dictate battle. The biggest flaw of my list is significant lack of speed. I'm hoping with speed of hysh, magic and aggressive positioning I can capture objectives or eliminate units at the enemies backline IF they are small units (arkanunts, small dryad units etc). However I am very reliant on teclis to do specific damage with his spells, ranged attack and i hate to say it will probably need to see some combat, taking advantage of his speed and mount. I literally have no answer if someone wants to stick a million mortek guard/hearthstone beserkers on a backline objective. I basically decided to include a relatively reliable unit for damage (stoneguard) at the expense of dawnriders. Not sure how it will go, its a hard compromise between a list filled with great models, but that won't get rolled over completely. I really don't have a lot of answers for eel spam, hearthguard and mortek spam or flamer spam but oh well. Open to some suggestions, but I feel this is a conpromise I can live with. In a different world, I wouldn't take teclis (except I love painting big centre pieces, levidadon, morthai, stardrake) and that would free up points for dawn riders, alarith, and multiple units of stoneguard but also removing sentinels and going alarith instead of zaitrec. Right now it seems you can go all varani, all alarith, or in my case a weird hybrid which will struggle with speed.
  19. Tried a few things, still can't get it. Literally tried warhammer-community on facebook to find out. They posted a rakarth flesh video which literally looked nothing like the photos. Think I am doomed to never know it! I might try and find an older white dwarf and see if they are in there, its a good idea.
  20. Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how the bone skin colour is painted on these seraphon models. There are more pictures in the faction focus below. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/05/29/29th-may-faction-focus-seraphongw-homepage-post-3/ I experimented with ungor flesh, wraithbone, ushabti bone with sepia but cannot quite achieve the same effect. The effect cannot be contrast paints as the posts are from 2018. Thanks all!
  21. The problem with the idoneth point changes is there are many of their units that were overcosted day one. So after a year they are...still badly overcosted. Neither aspect sea or storm are as useful or effective as other units in other armies (vermin lords keeper of secrets). They should be more like 325-350 not 400-420. Turtle should be down to 300-320 and the sharks like 100 at most. Its not just eels are better, its that these units are not worth their points costs. So it is another year of badly overcosted units till GHB 2020. But after seeing some of the price changes in other armies i have little faith in real balance changes (most significant points changes appear to be harsh nerfs).
  22. Yeah i dont want to link anything in case i breach rules. The photo is making the rounds on facebook (for example witches elves are 120 for 10). As stated though the aspects are still way overpriced for what they do. We are also yet to see what the GHB will do with stacking command abilities for kings/volut. Compeditively it will still be eel stacking. The turtle need to be more like 300-320, and the aspects 350. 10 point drop on thralls and reavers make them nicer in friendly matches. I was hoping reavers to go to more like 110.
  23. Reavers and thralls went down by 10 Aspect of sea by 20 Turtle by 30 Shark by 20 Ishlaen untouched Soulscryer went up by 30 though Aspect of storm untouched. Honestly compeditively this has changed nothing. You trade points of taking decreased costing reavers/thralls for the cost increase on morsarr. Aspects are still grossly overpriced. Turtle is still not worth 350 points. It gives friendly lists more breathing room though for sharks and turtles though.
  24. Yeah im with pompe. After reading through some of the lists in 6 nations in very interested in how this lists functions. The format of the tournament gives you a chance to avoid unfavourable match ups though? Does the eilodon make its points back? Im assuming the eels throw themselves into combat, and the reavers race to objectives to capture?
  25. Thats fair - some matched play games where number of models on an objective capture in, i found without at least on blob to capture an objective, armies with cheaper battleline units will overwhelm the objectives. Does a gaunt summoner look their way and blow them up? Yes. Just like my eiladon would be blasted off by NH/tzeentch mortal wound spam armies. Ill be interested to see how the turtle goes. I suspect some opponents/scenarios will make us wish we had a blob, some opponents wish you had something else Also my army has 21 eels and volutranos, it isnt entire lacking damage. Against something like witch elves its my job to engage them at high tide and debuff them as best as possible.
