  1. Thank you @Nactigal for creating the topic Before the recent release of new models and battletome, in my mind I had this idea of what Soulblight Vampire Lords should be: a powerful combination of warlords & necromancers able to command / influence / manipulate way beyond the limited scope of Deadwalkers/Deathrattle (i.e. Nighthaunt and Fleash Eaters). Anyway I am happy about the release (even if Legion of Grief might disappear, and even if Nighthaunt might no longer benefit from any large-scale resurrection mechanism). Those WIP concepts attached are from 1-2 years ago but they still fit with what I think SBGL are
  2. I believe that the kind of Hexwraiths tide carrying the entire engine helps a lot for blending the model into a Nighthaunt army, at least it contributes a lot to the confusion. Somebody (forgot who, probably there) wrote that one "lore" aspect to consider when judging whether or not Mortis Engine is part of NH range is: Driving the model, there is a Necromancer (actually a Corpsemaster/disciple + the relics of what could be the Corpsmaster's Necromancer Master?) trying to control those wraiths flying around the engine. This guy is by nature a Death Mage, not a Nighthaunt (e.g. not a Guardian of Soul). And those NH floating around might have plenty of reasons of hating him because he basically tries to bind them to his will with magic, and to use them. Now, if used in a Legion of Grief army with blessing (!) from the Lady, I guess there is no issue
  3. Disclaimer: I have not tested any of the options I have considered (only for comparison) as well: 6 Crypt Flayers as allies (i.e. they shout as well, they fly as well, their cost is in same range 300-380: 340pts). Mathematically: Move: 1 Terrorgheist: fly 14", decreasing profile if wounded 6 Crypt Flayers: fly 12" 4 Morghasts: fly 9" + 3D6 charge Points spent per Effective Wounds (against saveable wounds): 1 Terrorgheist: 300 / (14W, Save 4+, DS 6+ = 33.6) = 8.92 6 Crypt Flayers: 340 / (24W, Save 5+, no DS6+ if allies? dunno.. = 36) = 9.44 4 Morghasts: 380 / (24W, Save 4+, DS 6+ = 57.6) = 6.59 Points spent per average melee Wounds inflicted to a non-ethereal target saving at 4+: 1 Terrorgheist: 300 / (1 model x 4 attacks x 0.5 TH x 0.66 TW x 0.66 unsaved x 2 dmg) = 1.77-- claws decreasing profile if wounded + (1 model x 3 attacks x 0.33 TH x 0.66 TW x 0.83 unsaved x 2 dmg) = 1.94 -- maw + (1 model x 3 attacks x 0.16 TH x 6 MW) = 3 -- maw MW on 6s TH = 44.62 6 Crypt Flayers: 340 / (6 models x 4 attacks x 0.5 TH x 0.66 TW x 0.66 unsaved x 1 dmg) = 5.33 -- talons + (6 models x 4 attacks x 0.16 TH x 1 MW) = 4 -- talons MW on 6s TH = 36.42 4 Morghasts: 380 / (4 models x 3 attacks x 0.66 TH x 0.66 TW x 0.83 unsaved x 3 dmg) = 13.33 -- halberds = 28.5 Additional average MWs with shriek against a Bravery 8 target: 1 Terrorgheist: 0.55 -- shriek 10" 6 Crypt Flayers: 6 x 0.11 = 0.66 -- shriek 10" 6 x 0.55 = 3.33 -- shriek < 3" 4 Morghasts: 0 Numbers are not all but considering the Morghasts are such cool in term of model and lore... I would say Morghasts anyway 🥰
  4. In term or armour: The 2 models revealed so far are going exactly the way I was hoping I had been tempted to convert some 40k Drukhari for making new Vampire Lords, and those new models are really close to this in term of armours. I don't see anymore blood chalices, but maybe the blue drops can capture life essence and heal the bearer? In term or weapons: Sauron/Nazgul-like big maces and long swords... I love it. This is exactly capturing the specific and troubling essence of the vampires = looking thins, almost fragile, but still magically and unnaturally able to wield heavy weapons at incredible speed. The shield is gorgeous! In term of shape: I really hope that, if there is a whole army, then the models will not be all derived from a Daughter of Khaine style (female only and crazy hair style ). I hope there will be some diversity. And there will be not only warlords/commanders but also full range of sorcerers/necro specialised, assassins, etc... In term of stance: I like that the new models are not simply huge beasts/Flesh Eater style. The way the 2 models look at the battlefield from above is so "elite style" I like it, and I can hear them whispering to their own deranged mind: "Indeed, why should I not honour these foolish foes of my unexpected presence in middle of this offending mess they are offering to my eyes, and transform this vain waste of flesh in a master piece of slaughter and soul harvesting..." I was quite far with my own previous VL conversions (https://twitter.com/guillaume_gte/status/1271652117535694848/photo/1) But I am not upset. This promising!
  5. New model for Necromantic bloodline Soulblight/Vampire ? 🤗 https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2020/08/gw-rumor-engine-burning-man-skull.html
  6. ...sorry that it took me so long for finishing them, but here are my converted/kitbashed Vampire Lords I abandoned the idea of the mutated left arm, and I used many bits: bodies: Idoneth Namarti Thralls & Namarti Reavers wings: DoK Khinerai heads: Spite Revenants left hand: Crypt Ghouls shoulders: Grave Guards cloaks: Dark Riders
  7. 1) Base & pillars: Dominion of Sigmar 2) Throne: Magewrath Throne + Mortis Engine bits

  15. I think your colour scheme will probably work! 👍 However, personally (and I think UNIBROWshapist as well) I was only looking for the horse robe colour scheme, not the one of the horseman for which I already decided to apply something blueish more consistent with rest of my army
  16. Hello, I have been looking for the same thing! I believe this is the same or derived colour scheme as the one used for the photo in AoS Grand Alliance Death book. I have not found it documented anywhere and I have tried to approach as close as I could to this colour, using: Basecoat Corax white Mix of Hexwraith Flame + Nihilak Oxyde + Lahmian Drybrushing in Ulthuan Grey Layer in Ulthuan Grey Here below my WIP attempt.. 🙂

  22. I wanted to use 2 Morghast Archai in a Legion of Grief 1k points army against Skavens, in order to hide 4 Tomb Banshees behind (the Ghostly Howl at 10" does not require visibility) and for delivering the -1 Bravery within 6". And also just for the point of putting something on the table as tall as the Stormefiends However the Morghasts float in the air, so I am not sure they would hide anything I guess I am authorised to glue them on some mausoleums like in @Rob Hawkins' tutorial? 🤗 ...but the -1 Bravery debuff could be brought by several other cheaper units (zombies, skeletons, black knights, ), and then their 210 points is also the same price as for 6 Chainghasts who would also: have 12 wounds in total, fly (but only 6" move), save at 4+ (even ethereal), shred things in same way at 2" in melee if 5 targets within 2", plus would create a range 'threat' at 15" and be healed by grave sites. I agree with you: I am first interesting in painting them because I like their style and their lore. I would not encourage GW to drop them in points (they deserve a key role) but rather to align them in term of profile with other models with the "Deathlords" keyword. They are the only ones non-leader models, sitting (floating?) beside not less than Nagash and 4 Mortarchs. For example, role-wise, their "spirit" weapons could feast on their victims' souls and heal them on killing something, maybe they could also have abilities triggered when in range of Deathlord heroes (encouraging playing them with the Mortarchs) maybe something the same way as a Nighthaunt General can now re-allocate wounds to Hexwraiths with the Dolorous Guard battalion, maybe they could have the ability to "stay in the sky", threatening the battlefield, until they decide to rush on their prey or to lift it in the air, etc...
  23. I share your interest and I have read so far: 1) https://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/rise-of-nagash-ebook.html 2) https://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/neferata-ebook.html First one is big, it covers entire Nagash ascension, so far more than just Neferata but it include many many chapters about Neferata story in Lahmia. If you are interested in understanding her personality and how she became what she is then you will probably like it as well
  24. ...aaah thank you! So, we are not even authorised to ally the factions part of our own allegiance. So many reasons to grief! Now I understand the name 😅
