allegiance and battleline units

Asked this over at Warhammer forum but didn't ask it right

Say I have a bonesplitter army , moarboyz count as battleline in a bonesplitter allegiance . If I do this do I have to have the bonesplitter allegiance abilities or can I have destruction?

 

What about Ironjawz (don't have their own allegiance abilities yet) can I have an ironjawz allegianceto get brutes as battleine but have destruction abilities

Official FAQ makes it clear — you can always take your command traits, artefacts, etc. from your Grand Alliance, no matter what allegiance you have for battleline purposes.

I can't find that in the Generals Handbook FAQ. Where should I look?

It's now covered in the GHB2017, pages 76 & 116.
