"Within X inches"

Grailstorm

Question

Just curious, because I've not really thought about it too much before – how do you all play rules where a unit has to be set up "within X inches" of another unit? For example, something we'll be seeing a lot of: the Hammerstrike Stormcast, where paladins can drop down within 6 inches of prosecutors.

Does every single model from the unit have to be within 6 inches? Or does only one model have to be within 6?

It's slightly confusing, because obviously for a unit to be within range of a spell or buff, only one model has to be in range. But for something like this, following the same principle, you could theoretically snake a unit of paladins 10 inches closer to their target simply by keeping one at the back within 6 inches of the prosecutors...

From the FAQ:

Q: Many Age of Sigmar rules refer to a unit being ‘within’ a certain distance of another unit, or of a location like a table edge. What does ‘within’ mean in this context? Specifically does all of the unit need to be within the stated distance, or just the closest part of the unit?

A: In Warhammer Age of Sigmar, unless specifically stated otherwise a unit is ‘within’ a certain distance of something else as long as the shortest distance between the two units is equal to or less than the stated distance. So, for example, a unit is within 12" of another unit as long as any model from one unit is 12" or less from any model from the other unit.
