They are certainly good and looked at in terms of cost per wound (9points per wound) - however to get maximum benefit from them you need a unit of 30 which costs 540 points. Filling your core with them would cost you a whopping 1620 points leaving you enough for a lord of change and little else.

The cheapest core for tzeentch is three units of 10 marked marauders for 180 points which whilst nowhere near as effective leave you with 1440 points more to spend on things like skyfires.

even 3 units of 10 horrors with full blue and brimstone splitting points is only 960 - that's kairos and a lord of change cheaper.

best is a relative term and needs to take into account the impact on the points you have availabile for the rest of your army.

a unit of 30 Tzaangor is clearly very good just need to balance the rest of your army around them

Your being extreme!  no one will take 3x30 for 1620.  But 660 for 80 wounds of battleline is a great deal for what you get.

I agree that you need to balance across the list but most lists will take cheap battleline then try and find points for the frontline combat unit.  You have one here that fills one of the slots.

Did you listen to the show?  I argued 2 points.

1.  Best battleline.  On par with Judicators or 30 letters/  for impact on the game for a battleline unit

2. Best combat unit that requires no buffs.  30 of these at 540 can go toe to toe with anything else in the game of equal points in a bubble.  talking about comparing them to 10-15 paladins.  If the Tzanngors go first here (Move faster + Run and Charge) then its a wash.  10 will paladins all die in a round.  If its 15 Paladins then the paladins probably win the grind eventually but they are over 100 points more.  If 10 paladins go first the Tzangor finish them in 2 rounds still (assuming getting to chose priority in the following round)

Dracoths at those points probably fair better as they should get the jump and also have the shooting.

Not many units will come close though will they??

They're good and extremely offensive but their poor save lets them down overall along with their low bravery causing yet more to die. You can't just look at wounds per point.

I think if they get in to an unfavourable combat they will die in droves and they likely will because everyone either thinks they're filth or will know how to deal with them.
