First 1000 points Khorne Army

Hi,

I just start the game and is into Khorne. Here is my list for my first 1000 points.

My questions:

Is it better to play pure mortal/daemons or mix?

Some of my friends told me to get a charging unit like skullcrushers (on hand i have bloodcrushers cos of starter box but higher points though...meh...). Is it necessary at this point of time?

I dun want to have a battalion yet.

Some suggest to change the mighty Lord of Khorne to Slaughterpriest. Why?

Any advise?

Thank you in advance!

Looks like a great start to me, I am a fan of mixing Mortals. The army lends itself perfectly to segway into 2000 points eventually. What is better totally depends on your eventual army and personal preforance.

Skullcrushers are an excellent support unit but for 1K not really needed. Bloodcrushers on the other hand are simply too expensive for my liking. Low damage output, medium wounds, low attacks etc. For that same 160 points you could have Chaos Knights (of Khorne).

At 1K it's actually a smart move to not use a Battalion. Most armies can't fit one in at that level anyway.

A Slaughterpriest is great in a Khorne army because it gains acces to the Blood Blessings. However the choice you've made now is great too. I think Slaughterpriests are great if you really want a ranged 'sorcerer like' Hero. All the while a Mighty Lord of Khorne with Mark of the Destroyer gets the job done well too.

Last advice is have fun! Share the results :)

Thank you! Looks like nothing beats trying out this for my first game soon.

Thanks again!

Looks good aswell. Only downside is that you only have a generic Command Trait to work with but then again that isn't of any massive concern anyway.  The Crimson Crown on Bloodmaster is very good, keep him around and you'll enjoy him.

Hi,

I am purposefully hijacking this thread, but I am thinking about a little Khorne army myself, since i have a few older bloodletter and skullcrusher models around. I'll expand it with the AoS starter box.

Could you see this list at 1000 Points work

Allegiance: Chaos

Leaders
Lord Of Khorne On Juggernaut (140)
Bloodsecrator (120)
Bloodstoker (80)

Battleline
30 x Bloodletters (270)
40 x Bloodreavers (240)

3 x Mighty Skullcrushers (140)
- Khorne Bloodbound Battleline (Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut General)

Reinforcement Points (0)

Total: 990 / 2000
Allies: 0 / 400

Everything forward. Hope that Juggerlord and Skullcrushers might build the pressure soon enough until the rest can smush in.

I think in general both of your list are perfectly fine starting points. Depending on the armies you play, the nature of the people you play, your own play style and all kind of other elements... I would just advice, like @AlvinAOS said, just to play a few games!

Khorne is a bit of a specialist army which works best with nice synergies and part of the fun in figuring out what you feel you lack in your games and then working towards a solution. Either in tactics or models. So have fun, let us know what you run into and the fine Khorne players here will help you with the next step :D Because Khorne isn't anything if not helpful ;)
