Vaulark
In an effort to build my list building game I am trying to implement my engineering skills to evaluate units I may want to use in the upcoming LVO AoS Championship. I am actually a really back story driven player and tend to build lists around the models and themes I like. I just played in the Salt Lake Gladiator Games with my Primaris marines and getting curb stomped for taking such a narrative, model fond based list. My main goal really is to have fun and give people fun games. That being said having some of the know how I figured I'd get a better feel for the performance of units so that I can intelligently build my own list as competitively as I can without running a list that I don't enjoy. I know the hotness right now is the 30 Bloodletter blobs. here is a simulation I wrote in matlab that generates 30 random dice roll, checks to see what hits, what mortally wounds, and then rolls the remaining hit dice to check for normal wound rolls. Again all these values are unmodified. Just a unit of blood letters with not aura buffs or re-rolls. I listed below some examples of the output I was getting. With normal wound rolls on the left and mortal wound rolls on the right. Make of it what you will. There are armor saves I need to add in against the normal hits as well as mortal wound mitigation that could be considered. Just a little though experiment of mine un_modified_blood_letter_damage_output.m
Gotrek
In my experience people who want to capitalize on the bloodletter bomb will buff them to get maximum effect. So you add in a gorepilgrim battallion and get a bloodsecrator which doubles their attacks and a priest to give them +1 to hit (so now you trip mortal wounds on a 4+ and if you have a demon hero nearby you reroll 1s). In and of themselves, 30 bloodletters are ok, not OMFGSOGOODBLOODFORTHEBLOODGODEVERYONEONEELSESUCKS, but the combos push them from a c+/b- to an A unit. Killax
Yup, its cool, adding a Daemonic Hero near them and The Crimson Crown makes things nuts. Blood for the Bloodgod!
Vaulark
Yeah I need to go back through and add all those modifiers and see what kind of damage they can really crank out when synergized.
Killax
Damage warrants the 270 points for 30, no worries.
gmulroney
When doing your math, did you take into account that 30 bloodletters will have a build in +1 to hit for having more than 20 models? So they should hit on 3’s and mortal wound on 5’s
Vaulark
No didn't take that into account. This is without any modifiers. The plan being to get the general code running then add in modifiers from there.
