Daemon Prince - Slaves to Darkness

Daemon Prince is listed as part of the Slaves to Darkness pitched battle profiles.

Daemon Prince does NOT have the Slaves to Darkness keyword.

Obviously (to me) the intent is that you can take a Daemon Prince (or many!) as part of your Slaves to Darkness allegiance army.  Does its lack of keyword make it technically not work, or is its inclusion in the pitched battle profile all it takes, keyword or no?

Pretty sure you can't use the Slaves to Darkness allegiance abilities with a Dæmon Prince as part of your army, unless you take them as an ally, which I don't think there's any way to do — though the ally rules are kinda confusing.

I'm not quite sure what the intent is, though…

Though I've just noticed — he can be taken as part of a StD warscroll battalion, which would allow your army to still use the StD allegiance abilities, but he wouldn't benefit from them.

This is an odd one. He has StD points profile but he is not in StD leaders in scroll builder. Pretty sure he should have the StD keyword...

If I had to guess the intent, I'd say that it's for the purpose of choosing allies. For example, you could use an army  with Slaanesh allegiance and Slaves to Darkness faction, counting him as a non-allied model. Or you could field a Hosts of Slaanesh faction army with him as an ally.

I would not expect him to be treated as having the StD keyword, if you want him to have StD allegiance you need to use a warscroll battalion.

Allies rules are a bit contentious at the moment, though.

Well a demon prince is an ascended Chaos Lord - its what all slaves to darkness aspire to become. I think it should be an integral part of their list. Its in the Slaves to Darkness section of the GA Chaos book... which is basically their battletome.
