And here I am posing with my Start Collecting! box. It's hardly the first models I've bought for this branch of my Undead, but it's definitely the core of the force, since ten snap-fit skeletons, ten grave guard without bases, five black knights, and a couple of different wight kings are hardly an army. I mean, I guess technically it's an army, but not a good one.

I'd like to get everyone to write a little something about themselves and why they chose this army for our Tale of Gamers, and since I believe in leading by example...

I'm a middle school science teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the undead have been a side-project for me since the dying days of 8th Edition, when I sunk some money into some secondhand skeletons and zombies and then got a terrorgheist/zombie dragon kit as a birthday present. 8th came and went, and I still hadn't really lavished any love on my undead. They rested in their box tomb, waiting for the moment to rise.

That moment came with the release of the General's Handbook (which reinvigorated my local Age of Sigmar scene) and Battletome: Flesh Eater Courts. However, while the Flesh Eaters remain my main undead project, I've decided to go all-out and branch out into Deathrattle, Soulblight, and Nighthaunt as well... which brings me to my current box.

I love the aesthetic of the mortarchs and the servants. That sort of ornate-yet-morbid dark fantasia of bones, ghosts, and other creepy stuff really floats my boat. I also like the aura of antiheroism put out by the vampires and their servants. They're bad, but they're part of the system. They don't want to make everything dead the way Chaos wants to make everything Chaos. I think that's interesting.
