About this blog

Finally working on my first AOS army with my love for Big Pappa Nurlge... and i have a feeling the grandpa will be getting alot of love this year so I should have tons to choose from as I go forward.  I'm going to put up my work in progress as I paint this mainly for me so I can stay motivated and see how I am doing, but would love feedback as I go.

I have built about 30 plaugebearers some drones and Bloab, going to start with 5 PB's and Bloab's mount, I am planning on mixing up the schemes for the PluageBeareres as I don't think pestilence is very uniform in nature.

Primed things up tonight so I can hopefully get going on colors tomorrow.

Getting Gross

It has been a few more washes, some edge highlighting and alot of pustules painted but I am almost done with the magoth, he still needs some final touches such as blood for the blood god and nurgles rot but I will have to wait till he has been varnished for those. Next up is getting Bloab done and stuck on.

pondering pus

I added a few more washes to the mogoth, I don't think the pictures show it off well but there is a nice purple hue to the skin.  The next decision is how i want to do all the pustules and other filth.  Currently I am thinking i will reverse the colors with the purpley flesh getting yellow and green pustules and the green underbelly getting purple/blue pustules. will have to see how that goes or if I want to keep the colors together... Maybe i'll go crazy all over it.    Picked up some

A few steps forward a few steps back

The PlagueBearers are moving forward, the yellow might be a bit to bright but I am feeling pretty happy with them.  Bilespurter on the other hand has regressed a bit, I decided I wanted to do him with a green under belly and a more decaying skin top. Somewhat similar to the box art thought I will be adding my own spin to it. So he was re-base coated and has now had a gloss varnish bath ready for washes .

Washing away the filth

I added some red and sepia Ink washes to all the wounds and open stomachs to give them a dark gory red brown base. I then gave them a coat of gloss varnish and then washed the entire models in a brown and green mix wash to darken them up a bit especially in the recesses. I then did a thin purple wash to get a bit more color variation.  The next step was to paint in the guts and wounds with some Vallejo red, wash that with purple and then go back over it with red... I then realized i was out of p

it's not easy being green

Getting the base coats down, i did some pre-shading which didn't show as well on the PB's as I would have liked, went a little heavy on the base coat, I think it was better on the maggoth.  I then did a base of vallejo dead flesh followed by a 50/50 Dead flesh and livery green, than a final highlight of livery green.  I went super bright to start, partially following @Bruticus swamp elf tutorial, and also because i expect the washes will mute it out quite a bit.. Will cut back in some umber and
